Diagnostic Assays For Chordopoxviruses

View page
US Patent:
20120214155, Aug 23, 2012
Filed:
Nov 2, 2010
Appl. No.:
13/505719
Inventors:
Yu Li - Duluth GA, US
Inger K. Damon - Decatur GA, US
Hui Zhao - Lilburn GA, US
International Classification:
C12Q 1/70
C07H 21/04
US Classification:
435 5, 536 2432
Abstract:
This disclosure relates to compositions and methods of their use in detection and identification of a chordopoxvirus in a sample, such as diagnosis of an infection in a subject. The compositions and methods allow for detection and identification of all non-avian low-GC content chordopoxviruses, identification of most known high-GC content chordopoxvirus, and species-specific detection of Canarypox virus, Fowlpox virus, and Sealpox virus.

Back-Extension Chair For The Prevention Of Low Back Pain Symptoms

View page
US Patent:
20130072360, Mar 21, 2013
Filed:
Oct 8, 2012
Appl. No.:
13/647360
Inventors:
Yu Li - Johns Creek GA, US
International Classification:
A63B 21/00
US Classification:
482128, 482133
Abstract:
A chair-like exercising apparatus comprises a back, a seat, front legs, rear legs, and resistance element(s) which provide a broad range of resistance force adjustable by the user for the back extension exercise. The chair back pivotally connects to the rear legs directly, and pivotally connects to the front legs or rear legs through the resistance element(s). The resistance element comprises a compress-coil-spring cylinders (or constant-force-spring devices) and the cylinder holders (or the device holders). The resistance level of the back extension exercise is adjusted by switching the interchangeable compress-coil-spring cylinders (or constant-force-spring devices) of appropriate loads inside the cylinder holders (or device holders). A user sits on the chair and sway backward to perform back extension exercise after selecting an appropriate resistance level based on his/her physical condition. The apparatus is simple, affordable and can be used as a regular chair in its locked position. A regular back extension exercise with proper resistance force strengthens the low back muscles (erector spinae), improves and prevents the low back pain symptoms.

Real-Time Reverse Transcriptase-Polymerase Chain Reaction Assay With Modified Probe For The Diagnosis Of Rabies Viruses And Other Lyssaviruses

View page
US Patent:
20190284646, Sep 19, 2019
Filed:
May 8, 2017
Appl. No.:
16/303006
Inventors:
- Bethesda MD, US
Yu Li - Johns Creek GA, US
Assignee:
The U.S.A., as represented by the Secretary, Department of Health and Human Services - Bethesda MD
International Classification:
C12Q 1/70
C12Q 1/6876
Abstract:
A real-time reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) assay that utilizes multiplex primers and probes with degenerate nucleotides to detect divergent species of lyssavirus is described. The probes used in the RT-PCR assay target a highly conserved region at the 5′ end of the lyssavirus genome and are modified with either a minor groove binder (MGB) or locked nucleic acid (LNA) nucleotides to increase their melting temperature. The described assay detects all known lyssavirus species with a sensitivity and specificity superior to traditional hemi-nested PCR and the direct fluorescent antibody (DFA) test.

Portable Contact-Washing Device For Relieving And Preventing Symptoms Associated With Hemorrhoids

View page
US Patent:
20150352275, Dec 10, 2015
Filed:
Jan 14, 2013
Appl. No.:
14/760480
Inventors:
Yu LI - Johns Creek GA, US
International Classification:
A61M 3/02
Abstract:
A portable contact-washing device allows a user to wear a single-use finger cover for contact washing of rectal area using water that is delivered to the finger pad area through micro tubing by a mini water pump. This contact wash uses a limited amount of water for a sufficient hygienic wash to the rectal area after a bowel movement without causing irritation which is often associated of using toilet paper. The contact washing process is efficient and requires a small volume of water, and the contact-washing device is highly portable and easy to use outside of home. The finger cover may be made of biodegradable material and will be discarded after the use.
