Filed:
Aug 5, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/911943
Inventors:
Robert S. Adonailo - Rockville Centre NY, US
Tony T. Li - Roslyn Heights NY, US
David S. Zakrewski - Babylon NY, US
Assignee:
Honeywell International, Inc. - Morristown NJ
International Classification:
G08B 19/00
G01W 1/00
US Classification:
340522, 340601, 34053928, 702 3
Abstract:
A security system that secures a building includes a weather detector for detecting weather conditions, such as thunder or high winds, which are likely to cause false alarms in sensors such as an acoustic glass break sensor, shock sensor and vibration sensor. The weather detector may include a sensing component that senses atmospheric conditions external to the building, such as temperature, pressure, wind speed and/or lightning. The weather detector may also include a component for receiving a data communication, such as from a radio, Internet, or telephone link, indicating that the weather condition is present in a vicinity of the building. The security system operates in a bad weather mode by requiring corroboration of intrusion detection signals from the sensors that can cause false alarms.

Abstract:
Security system communication with a user device via electronic means, including via e-mail transmitted over the internet are provided. A security system interface receives a signal indicating an occurrence of an event, such as a fault or alarm condition, in a zone of the security system; a memory stores a user e-mail address associated with the security system and the address of a server for providing internet service, such as an ISP server; and an e-mail generator transmits to the server an e-mail message based on the event. The communication node in such a system may be integrated with the control panel of the security system. The e-mail generator can transmit the e-mail using SMTP or other TCP/IP. An attachment of the e-mail, such as a picture or an audio or video file relevant to the event or the zone may be transmitted.

Circuit For Monitoring Batteries In A Parallel Configuration While Under Load

View page
US Patent:
7573239, Aug 11, 2009
Filed:
Dec 29, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/648529
Inventors:
Lance Weston - East Northport NY, US
Tony T. Li - Roslyn Heights NY, US
John J. Ryan - Seaford NY, US
Assignee:
Honeywell International Inc. - Morristown NJ
International Classification:
H02J 7/00
G08B 21/00
US Classification:
320132, 320126, 3406361
Abstract:
The invention includes a circuit to monitor batteries arranged in a parallel battery configuration for charge/discharge battery circuit operation. The circuit selectively tests for each battery's presence in a battery holder or receptacle without interrupting circuit discharging operation, e. g. , physical removal, and communicates a fault condition if the battery is determined to be missing. The inventive circuit enables existing or legacy control circuitry operating with the circuit to detect individual missing batteries where the legacy control circuitry is constructed to detect only missing circuit charge paths states.

System And Method For Extending Universal Bus Line Length

View page
US Patent:
7576624, Aug 18, 2009
Filed:
May 15, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/434458
Inventors:
Lance Weston - East Northport NY, US
Tony T. Li - Roslyn Heights NY, US
John J. Ryan - Seaford NY, US
Assignee:
Honeywell International Inc. - Morristown NJ
International Classification:
H04B 3/04
H04L 25/03
US Classification:
333 20, 333 28 R
Abstract:
A system and method for recovering a high frequency component of a slew rate controlled signal propagating along a transmission line enables the high frequency component to be recovered after being lost because of slew rate control and transmission line low pass filtering effects. The system includes a wave shaping circuit for receiving and shaping the slew rate controlled signal to recover the high frequency component. The method includes receiving the slew rate controlled signal, and recovering the high frequency component by shaping the slew rate controlled signal to produce a shaped signal, where the shaped signal includes the received slew rate controlled signal and the high frequency component.

Class D Amplifier With Increased Efficiency

View page
US Patent:
7619471, Nov 17, 2009
Filed:
Jul 31, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/831941
Inventors:
Lance Weston - East Northport NY, US
Tony T Li - Roslyn Heights NY, US
John J Ryan - Seaford NY, US
Assignee:
Honeywell International, Inc. - Morristown NJ
International Classification:
H03F 3/217
US Classification:
330251, 330207 A
Abstract:
The present invention is a method of operating a speaker by converting an audio signal to a pulse-width modulated signal that has a plurality of positive pulses and a plurality of negative pulses as a function of the audio signal, then driving an H-bridge circuit interconnected to a speaker, wherein the H-bridge circuit comprises an A-side and a B-side, wherein the A-side comprises a first switching transistor and a second switching transistor, and wherein the B-side comprises a first switching transistor and a second switching transistor. For each positive pulse, the A-side of the H-bridge circuit is driven by pushing the first switching transistor of the A-side while grounding the second switching transistor of the A-side. For each negative pulse, the B-side of the H-bridge circuit is driven by pushing the first switching transistor of the B-side while grounding the second switching transistor of the B-side.

Security System With Dynamic Range Enhancement For Fm Demodulation

View page
US Patent:
7792511, Sep 7, 2010
Filed:
Jul 31, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/831395
Inventors:
Lance Weston - East Northport NY, US
Tony T Li - Roslyn Heights NY, US
Mark H Schmidt - West Islip NY, US
Assignee:
Honeywell International Inc. - Morristown NJ
International Classification:

H04K 3/00
US Classification:
455260, 455265
Abstract:
A system and method for communicating between a base and a remote device in a security system. The base receives an audio signal from a telephone network via a panel and then frequency modulates the audio signal at a carrier frequency to generate an FM signal. The remote device receives the FM signal from the base, determines a phase error signal representing the phase error between the received FM signal and an output signal of a voltage controlled oscillator, determines a difference between the carrier frequency and a center frequency of the voltage controlled oscillator, and, if there is a difference, then changes the center frequency of the voltage controlled oscillator to match the carrier frequency of the FM signal.

Security System Utilizing Group Supervision Polling

View page
US Patent:
20020174343, Nov 21, 2002
Filed:
May 18, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/861129
Inventors:
Francis Marino - Dix Hills NY, US
Tony Li - Roslyn Heights NY, US
International Classification:
H04K001/00
US Classification:
713/182000
Abstract:
In a security system that has a large number of individually-addressable modules interconnected on a data bus to a control panel, a method of concurrently supervising the modules by first configuring each module with a unique zone number including a group number and a module number. During operation, the control panel initiates a group supervision poll sequence for each group number by transmitting a group poll command including a group number data field populated by the group number currently being polled. If a module is part of the group being polled, then it sets a discrete bit appended to a group poll response message that logically corresponds to the module number for that module. The control panel then determines if any bit in the group poll response message has not been set, and then issues a unit poll sequence addressed to a module that corresponds to any such bit not determined to have been set in the group poll response message.
