Elevated Outer Cuff For Reducing Paravalvular Leakage And Increasing Stent Fatigue Life

View page
US Patent:
20200205967, Jul 2, 2020
Filed:
Dec 9, 2019
Appl. No.:
16/706953
Inventors:
- St. Paul MN, US
Xue Mei Li - Shoreview MN, US
Assignee:
St. Jude Medical, Cardiology Division, Inc. - St. Paul MN
International Classification:
A61F 2/24
Abstract:
A prosthetic heart valve may include a valve assembly disposed within a stent, and first and second cuffs. The stent may extend in a longitudinal direction from an inflow end to an outflow end. The first cuff may be annularly disposed adjacent the stent. The second cuff may have a proximal edge facing toward the inflow end of the stent and a distal edge facing toward the outflow end of the stent. The second cuff may be annularly disposed about the stent radially outward of the first cuff. The distal edge of the second cuff may be coupled to the first cuff and/or the stent at a plurality of locations to form a pocket(s) between the first and second cuffs. The proximal edge of the second cuff may be coupled to first cuff and/or to the stent at a spaced distance from the inflow end of the stent.

Stents With Anchoring Sections

US Patent:
20200030091, Jan 30, 2020
Filed:
Oct 3, 2019
Appl. No.:
16/591694
Inventors:
- St. Paul MN, US
Xue Mei Li - Shoreview MN, US
Assignee:
St. Jude Medical, Cardiology Division, Inc. - St. Paul MN
International Classification:
A61F 2/24
Abstract:
A stent (′) for a prosthetic heart valve includes a body having an inflow end () and an outflow end (), and an anchoring section () adjacent the inflow end. The anchoring section may include structure () that extends radially outwardly from the body when the stent is in an expanded condition. The stent may include a transition section () between the body and the anchoring section, the transition section in the expanded condition of the stent having a diameter that is smaller than the diameters of the body and the anchoring section. When implanted into a native valve annulus, such as the mitral valve annulus, the anchoring section may help the stent resist migrating away from the native valve annulus.

Stent And Implantable Valve Incorporating Same

View page
US Patent:
20180263770, Sep 20, 2018
Filed:
May 24, 2018
Appl. No.:
15/988695
Inventors:
- St. Paul MN, US
Xue Mei Li - Shoreview MN, US
Assignee:
St. Jude Medical, Cardiology Division, Inc. - St. Paul MN
International Classification:
A61F 2/24
Abstract:
A collapsible stent for an implantable prosthetic valve incorporates leaflet-supporting members having relatively large surface area in comparison to other members defining the remainder of the stent. The leaflet-supporting members may have openings extending through them. The valve leaflets may be attached to the stent so that an attached edge of each leaflet extends along the leaflet-supporting members and is attached to the members by polymer integral with the leaflet overlying the leaflet supporting members and extending into the openings of the leaflet supporting members. The secure attachment resists stress on the leaflets.

Stent Cell Bridge For Cuff Attachment

View page
US Patent:
20180071090, Mar 15, 2018
Filed:
Nov 17, 2017
Appl. No.:
15/816134
Inventors:
- St. Paul MN, US
Thomas Mark Benson - Minneapolis MN, US
Xue Mei Li - Shoreview MN, US
Assignee:
St. Jude Medical, Cardiology Division, Inc. - St. Paul MN
International Classification:
A61F 2/24
Abstract:
A prosthetic heart valve includes a collapsible stent extending from an inflow end to an outflow end, and a cuff having an inflow end an outflow end. The stent includes first and second circumferential rows of cells defined by first and second pluralities of struts, respectively. The second circumferential row is positioned closer to the outflow end of the stent than the first circumferential row. At least one cell in the second circumferential row includes by a first strut opposed to a fourth strut and a second strut opposed to a third strut. A bridging feature in at least one cell in the second circumferential row includes first and second supplemental struts extending across an intermediate portion of the cell. The outflow end of the cuff is coupled to the stent along the bridging feature.

Dipping Mandrel With A Gap

View page
US Patent:
20170113381, Apr 27, 2017
Filed:
Dec 28, 2016
Appl. No.:
15/392319
Inventors:
- St. Paul MN, US
Xue Mei Li - Shoreview MN, US
Assignee:
St. Jude Medical, Inc. - St. Paul MN
International Classification:
B29C 41/14
B29C 41/38
Abstract:
A mandrel for molding polymer valve leaflets for heart valve prostheses is disclosed, including a body portion including an outer surface with ridges and contoured surfaces corresponding to the leaflets, the upper edge of the contoured surfaces corresponding to the free upper edge of the leaflets, and the mandrel including a mandrel extension above the body portion, and a gap extending around the mandrel between the upper edge of the contoured surface and the mandrel extension. A process for producing these polymer valve leaflets is also disclosed by dip coating with this mandrel and removing the polymer film created at the gap, preferably by applying suction or blowing thereto.
