Abstract:
Examples of the disclosure relate to example systems and methods for operating a see-through display for a vehicle. An example system includes a video camera positioned to capture video related to a vehicle structure that blocks a view of the driver. The system also includes a see-through display disposed inside the vehicle between the vehicle structure and the driver. The system also includes a processor configured to determine an eye position of the driver and process the captured video based on the eye position to determine a portion of the captured video to be displayed. The processor is to render the portion of the captured video to create a see-through effect relative to the vehicle structure. To determine the eye position, the processor receives user input for adjusting the portion of the captured video to create a match between the rendered portion and an unobstructed view of the external environment.

Abstract:
A head up display system for a motor vehicle includes a light field emitter emitting a light field that is reflected off of a windshield of the motor vehicle and that is visible to a human driver of the motor vehicle as a virtual image disposed outside of the windshield. The virtual image includes a plurality of graphical elements. A hand sensor detects a position of a hand of the human driver in space. An electronic processor is communicatively coupled to the light field emitter and to the hand sensor. The electronic processor receives a signal from the hand sensor indicative of the position of a hand of the human driver in space, and determines which one of the graphical elements in the virtual image is aligned with an eye location of the human driver and the detected position of the hand of the human driver in space.

Abstract:
An arrangement for sensing temperatures on a surface includes a thermal/infrared array sensor having a field of view. The thermal/infrared array sensor is positioned such that the surface is within the field of view. A benchmark object has a known temperature. The benchmark object is disposed within the field of view of the thermal/infrared array sensor. An electronic processor is communicatively coupled to the thermal/infrared array sensor and receives a signal from the thermal/infrared array sensor. The signal includes a temperature measurement of the surface and a temperature measurement of the benchmark object. A difference between the temperature measurement of the benchmark object and the known temperature of the benchmark object is calculated. A temperature of the surface is calculated based on the temperature measurement of the surface and the difference between the temperature measurement of the benchmark object and the known temperature of the benchmark object.

Abstract:
A motor vehicle includes an inside camera capturing images of a passenger compartment of the motor vehicle. An outside camera captures images of an environment outside of the motor vehicle. A movable sunblock device blocks sunlight from impinging upon a portion of the passenger compartment. An electrically powered actuator is coupled to the sunblock device and moves the sunblock device. An electronic processor is communicatively coupled to each of the inside camera, the outside camera, and the actuator. The electronic processor receives images captured by each of the inside camera and the outside camera. The electronic processor transmits control signals to the actuator dependent upon the images captured by each of the inside camera and the outside camera.
