Entropy Coding And Decoding Using Polar Codes

View page
US Patent:
20140040214, Feb 6, 2014
Filed:
Jul 31, 2012
Appl. No.:
13/816075
Inventors:
Xudong Ma - Monterey Park CA, US
Assignee:
EMPIRE TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT LLC - Wilmington DE
International Classification:
G06F 17/30
US Classification:
707693
Abstract:
Technologies are described herein for compressing or decompressing data using polar codes. Some example technologies may receive a data string comprising a first set of symbols. The technologies may transform the data string into a generalized message comprising a second set of symbols by mapping the data string to the generalized message via an inverse of a transformation function. The technologies may identify, based on a polar code, fixed symbols of the generalized message. The technologies may generate a compressed data string by extracting the fixed symbols from the generalized message and concatenating the fixed symbols into the compressed data string. As a result, the generalized message may be transformed into the compressed data string.

Joint Attention Estimation Using Structured Light

View page
US Patent:
20190182456, Jun 13, 2019
Filed:
Aug 30, 2016
Appl. No.:
16/322611
Inventors:
- Wilmington DE, US
Xudong MA - Clifton Park NY, US
Assignee:
XINOVA, LLC - Seattle NY
International Classification:
H04N 7/18
H04N 5/232
G06K 9/00
G06K 9/20
Abstract:
Technologies are generally described for joint attention estimation using structured light patterns. In some examples, a structured light pattern including spatial and/or temporal variations may be projected onto an area that may contain one or more locations, objects, or personnel of interest. The spatial and/or temporal variations of the structured light pattern may encode identifiers for different regions within the area. When a video camera or other video capture device captures video data of a particular region within the area, the video data may include the structured light spatial and/or temporal variations that encode an identifier for the particular region. Subsequently, the encoded region identifier may be extracted from the video data, for example by the video capture device or a network center, and used to identify the region associated with the video data. Extracted region identifiers may be used to perform joint attention estimation in real-time.

Concurrent Wireless Power Transfer And Data Communication

View page
US Patent:
20170195831, Jul 6, 2017
Filed:
Mar 17, 2017
Appl. No.:
15/461715
Inventors:
- Wilmington DE, US
Xudong Ma - Clifton Park NY, US
Assignee:
Empire Technology Development LLC - Wilmington DE
International Classification:
H04W 4/00
H04L 27/26
H04B 5/00
Abstract:
Systems and methods for concurrent wireless power transfer and data transmission are provided. A constraint encoder receives data bits for communication to a mobile device and encodes the data bits onto a transmit signal. The constraint encoder specifies signal constraints that cause the transmit signal to have a peak-to-power-average ratio (PAPR) during a given time interval sufficient to provide wireless power transfer to the mobile device. The system also includes a signal generator coupled to the constraint encoder. The signal generator generates the transmit signal according to the signal constraints. The system further includes a transmitter coil that is coupled to the signal generator. The transmitter coil is configured to transmit the transmit signal that has been encoded with the data bits to receiver coils of the mobile device. The encoded transmit signal is able to provide wireless power transfer and the encoded data bits to the mobile device.

Parity Check Code Encoder

View page
US Patent:
20160218750, Jul 28, 2016
Filed:
Jan 23, 2015
Appl. No.:
14/604482
Inventors:
- Wilmington DE, US
Xudong Ma - Clifton Park NY, US
International Classification:
H03M 13/29
Abstract:
Technologies to encode and decode a message are disclosed herein. In some implementations, a low density parity check (“LDPC”) code base graph G(k) may be divided a number of times into a smaller LDPC code graph G(k−n). Data to be stored may be encoded according to the smaller LDPC code graph G(k−n) to generate an encoded message. The encoded message may thereafter be stored in a memory device such as a multi-level cell memory device.

Consolidating Operations Associated With A Plurality Of Host Devices

View page
US Patent:
20160210165, Jul 21, 2016
Filed:
Aug 27, 2013
Appl. No.:
14/915217
Inventors:
- Wilmington DE, US
Xudong MA - Clifton Park NY, US
Assignee:
EMPIRE TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT LLC - Wilmington DE
International Classification:
G06F 9/455
Abstract:
Techniques described herein generally relate to consolidating computation tasks associated with a plurality of virtual machines. In one embodiment, a method may include forming a pipeline having at least a first core and a second core after having detected a formation condition, identifying a first set of operations of a first virtual machine running on a first host device that are similar to a second set of operations of a second virtual machine running on a second host device, identifying a third set of operations of the first virtual machine that are similar to a fourth set of operations of the second virtual machine, dispatching the first set of operations and the second set of operations to the first core of the pipeline for execution, and dispatching the third set of operations and the fourth set of operations to the second core of the pipeline for execution.

Code-Division-Multiple-Access (Cdma)-Based Network Coding For Massive Memory Servers

View page
US Patent:
20160119423, Apr 28, 2016
Filed:
Oct 28, 2014
Appl. No.:
14/526434
Inventors:
- Wilmington DE, US
Xudong Ma - Clifton Park NY, US
International Classification:
H04L 29/08
H04B 1/707
Abstract:
Technologies are generally described for code-division-multiple-access (CDMA)-based network-coding for reading data from massive memory servers. According to some examples, data may be modulated by spreading sequences prior to being transmitted from one memory node to another. In addition, the received signals (modulated data) from multiple memory nodes may be combined by a receiver memory node before being forwarded to other memory nodes arranged in a grid of memory nodes. The memory nodes may be assigned communication bandwidths flexibly and rapidly by changing the respective spreading sequences, which may be orthogonal or near-orthogonal for different memory nodes to allow support of random-access burst or dynamic data traffic, and enhancing fault-tolerance.
