Self-Adjusting Load Bar

View page
US Patent:
7931320, Apr 26, 2011
Filed:
Nov 29, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/947559
Inventors:
Vern J. Alway - Lake Sherwood MO, US
Michael L. Timmer - Wright City MO, US
Assignee:
Innovation Egineering, Inc. - St. Louis MO
International Classification:
B66C 1/10
US Classification:
294 813, 294 814, 294 675, 414561
Abstract:
A method is provided for assembling a load bar assembly. The method includes providing a first linear stage having a first alignment mechanism that is configured to move the load bar assembly in a first direction. A second linear stage is provided that includes a second alignment mechanism that is configured to move the load bar in a second direction that is different from the first direction. The first alignment mechanism is positioned with respect to the second alignment mechanism such that the first alignment mechanism and the second alignment mechanism are prevented from being back-driven. The first alignment mechanism and the second alignment mechanism are configured to lock if one of the first alignment mechanism and the second alignment mechanism fails.

Ergonomics Test Buck

US Patent:
20140060216, Mar 6, 2014
Filed:
Aug 29, 2012
Appl. No.:
13/597376
Inventors:
Todd Bartholomew Smith - Peoria IL, US
Darin Patrick Brodie - Princeville IL, US
David Hopp - Glen Carbon IL, US
David Asher - Alton IL, US
Robert Lewis - St. Louis MO, US
Casey Boyer - Winfield MO, US
Roberto Lanzara - St. Peters MO, US
David Schweppe - Ballwin MO, US
Vern Alway - Lake Sherwood MO, US
Assignee:
CATERPILLAR, INC. - Peoria IL
International Classification:
G01N 37/00
US Classification:
738656
Abstract:
A test buck, a test buck system and related method are disclosed. The test buck system may comprise a controller and a test buck. The test buck may include a portable bed, a seat module mounted to the bed, and a first OIM disposed on the bed. At least a portion of the first OIM may be selectively moveable in at least four degrees of freedom, up to six degrees of freedom. The controller may be electrically connected to a first Operator Interface Module (OIM). The controller may be configured to selectively move at least a portion of the first OIM in at least four to six degrees of freedom.

Starting Control Circuit For An A.c. Motor

View page
US Patent:
43822177, May 3, 1983
Filed:
May 15, 1981
Appl. No.:
6/263967
Inventors:
George W. Horner - St. Louis MO
Vern J. Alway - Ferguson MO
Assignee:
Gould Inc. - Rolling Meadows IL
International Classification:
H02P 142
US Classification:
318778
Abstract:
A starting control circuit is provided for an alternating current motor having a run winding and a start winding and a mechanical rotational output. The motor is powered by an alternating current source. A reference oscillator produces pulses having a reference frequency. A first control circuit is provided for counting the number of reference pulses produced during a predetermined number of cycles of the alternating current source. A sensor is provided for sensing a predetermined amount of rotational movement of the mechanical rotational output of the motor and producing a sensor pulse indicative thereof. A second control circuit is provided for counting the number of reference pulses produced during the time between a predetermined number of sensor pulses and for comparing the counts on the first and second control circuits. The second control circuit assumes first and second output states dependent on the relationship between the first and second output counts. A switch is connected to the second control circuit, the alternating current source and the start winding for connecting and disconnecting the alternating current source and the start winding in response to the output state of the second control circuit.
