Method And System For Dynamically Updating Geometric Models

View page
US Patent:
6665569, Dec 16, 2003
Filed:
Jan 12, 2000
Appl. No.:
09/482405
Inventors:
Vadim Kleyman - Andover MA
Emmanuel Gerlovin - Wayland MA
Assignee:
Parametric Technology Corporation - Needham MA
International Classification:
G06F 1900
US Classification:
700 97
Abstract:
A computer implemented method for dynamically updating a geometric model uses a data structure in which selected constituent elements of the model are associated to form a logical element with dynamically linked pointers to the selected constituent elements. One or more procedures reference the logical element as an input parameter. This indirect referencing of the constituent elements enables the procedure to accommodate fundamental changes to the selected constituent elements without requiring a designer to change the input parameter list of the procedure.

Method And System For Verifying The Integrity Of A Cad Format Translation

View page
US Patent:
20030156127, Aug 21, 2003
Filed:
May 24, 1999
Appl. No.:
09/317765
Inventors:
VADIM KLEYMAN - ANDOVER MA, US
International Classification:
G09G005/00
US Classification:
345/672000
Abstract:
A method for determining the existence of an error in translating from a source format of a geometric object to the corresponding target format and correcting that error includes the step of specifying constraints to be satisfied by the constituents of the geometric object and augmenting the target format representation of the object with those constraints. The resulting target representation thus includes both geometric and constraint information. The validity of the translation is assessed by determining whether or not the geometric portion is consistent with the constraint portion. If it is not consistent, the constraint information is then used to correct the translation errors. The constraints are either specified by a user, known beforehand, or heuristically determined.

Method And System For Management Of Heterogeneous Assemblies

View page
US Patent:
6473673, Oct 29, 2002
Filed:
May 24, 1999
Appl. No.:
09/316547
Inventors:
Vadim Kleyman - Andover MA
Asa Gray Trainer - Framingham MA
Milos Zupanski - Framingham MA
Assignee:
Parametric Technology Corporation - Needham MA
International Classification:
G06F 1900
US Classification:
700182, 345672
Abstract:
In a data processing system having a plurality of CAD systems, an associative topology bus facilitates the management of heterogeneous assemblies of geometric objects. The constituent geometric objects can be geometric primitives or they can be assemblies, both homogeneous and heterogeneous. The associative topology bus enables a user of a CAD system operating on a heterogeneous assembly to recognize the existence of a change in a constituent component of that assembly and to do so in real time. The associative topology bus performs this task by augmenting the representation of the heterogeneous assembly with translated image models corresponding to each of the constituent CAD systems of the data processing system. Each translated image model is generated by operating on a master geometry representation of the heterogeneous assembly with a mapping table corresponding to each of the constituent CAD systems of the data processing system.
