Apr 30, 2010
Appl. No.:
13/319089
Inventors:
Thomas Tembreull - Homer MI, US
Michael Cooper - Seattle WA, US
Paul Crockett - Eaton Rapids MI, US
Michael Hagedorn - Washington DC DC, US
Justin Rumao - Canton MI, US
Assignee:
BorgWarner Inc. - Auburn Hills MI
International Classification:
F01P 7/02
US Classification:
123 4112, 192 82 T, 192 7012, 192 8561
Abstract:
A fan drive system is provided having a housing connected with a pulley. A fan shaft is rotatably mounted to the housing by a clutch. A piston actuates the clutch. A pressure tube is provided for delivering pressure to the piston. A valve controls pressure against the piston. A fixed shaft rotatably supports the housing and the pulley and has passages extending through the pulley. A base connects the support shaft to a vehicle structure. An oil plate has inlets and outlets with the shaft passages. The oil plate circulates the hydraulic fluid. A coolant plate is juxtaposed between the oil plate and the structure supporting the support shaft. The coolant plate has inlets and outlets for coolant from a remote cooler.

Self-Learning Control System And Method For Controlling Fan Speed

View page
US Patent:
7362060, Apr 22, 2008
Filed:
May 24, 2005
Appl. No.:
10/908731
Inventors:
Thomas M. Tembreull - Homer MI, US
Eric L. Charbonneau - Kalamazoo MI, US
Assignee:
BorgWarner Inc. - Auburn Hills MI
International Classification:
H02P 5/00
H02P 5/46
H02P 7/08
US Classification:
318 66, 318599, 318811
Abstract:
A feedback control logic system for commanding a particular air conditioning unit fan speed is driven by a pulse-width modulated signal from a control unit. The engine control unit decrements the pulse-width modulated signal to the air conditioning unit fan and allows the fan to run for a predetermined time. If a particular function, such as shutting off of an air conditioner pressure switch or other sensor, has not been achieved within the predetermined time, the engine control unit again decrements the pulse-width modulated signal.

Fan Shroud With Modular Vane Sets

View page
US Patent:
20100329855, Dec 30, 2010
Filed:
Feb 18, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/918075
Inventors:
Thomas M. Tembreull - Homer MI, US
Kevin M. Taylor - Parma MI, US
Assignee:
BORGWARNER INC. - Auburn Hills MI
International Classification:
F01D 5/08
F01D 5/04
F01D 1/02
US Classification:
415175, 415228, 4152081
Abstract:
A fan shroud with modular vane members for a cooling system. A plurality of modular vane set members are positioned around the inner surface of the fan shroud ring, each of the modular vane set members having a plurality of vane members. The modularity provides flexibility and versatility for the fan shroud and corresponding efficiencies in costs and manufacturing.

Cooling System For Clutch

View page
US Patent:
20110088868, Apr 21, 2011
Filed:
Mar 2, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/921221
Inventors:
Theodore A. Malott - Jackson MI, US
Thomas M. Tembreull - Homer MI, US
Assignee:
BORGWARNER INC. - Auburn Hills MI
International Classification:
F01P 9/00
US Classification:
165 51
Abstract:
A cooling system for a fan drive device, particularly for a wet friction clutch. The dutch shaft member is attached to a shaft mounting piate and ATF is circulated through them. The shaft mounting plate is connected in turn to an engine mounting plate which has engine coolant circulated through it at a lower temperature. The shaft mounting plate and engine mounting plates both have passageways for circulation of fluids therein.

Mounting System For Securing An Article To A Wall

View page
US Patent:
20210207765, Jul 8, 2021
Filed:
Jan 3, 2020
Appl. No.:
16/733922
Inventors:
Michael D. TEMBREULL - Michigamme MI, US
Vincent M. TEMBREULL - Cadillac MI, US
Thomas M. TEMBREULL - Champion MI, US
International Classification:
F16M 13/02
Abstract:
A mounting system with a mount member that is configured to be recessed into the wall. The mount member defines a first mount, which is configured to be abutted against a structural member of the wall, a second mount, which is parallel to the first mount, and a pair of first legs that are coupled to at least one of the first and second mounts and which space the first and second mounts apart from one another. A plurality of mounting holes are formed through the first mount and a plurality of clearance holes are formed through the second mount. Each of the clearance holes is disposed in-line with an associated one of the mounting holes. A slot is formed through the second mount. The slot is disposed between the first legs and extends through a side of the second mount.

Abstract:
A valvetrain for an internal combustion engine of the type that has a combustion chamber, a moveable valve having a seat formed in the combustion chamber, and a camshaft includes a rocker arm assembly, a pivot providing a fulcrum for a rocker arm of the rocker arm assembly, and a latch assembly. An electrical device mounted to the rocker arm assembly receives power or communicates through a circuit that includes an electrical connection formed by abutment between surfaces of two distinct parts. The rocker arm assembly is operative to move one of the two abutting surfaces relative to the other in response to actuation of the cam follower. Forming an electrical connection through abutting surfaces that are free to undergo relative motion may reduce or eliminate the need to run wires to a mobile portion of the rocker arm assembly.
