View page
US Patent:
59859717, Nov 16, 1999
Filed:
Oct 29, 1997
Appl. No.:
8/959528
Inventors:
Satchit Srinivasan - Carrollton TX
Edward Szczepaniak - Arlington TX
Sunit S. Shah - Irving TX
David K. Edge - New Boston MI
Assignee:
Solvay Engineered Polymers - Grand Prairie TX
International Classification:
C08L 2312
C08L 2314
C08L 2316
C08K 318
US Classification:
524425
Abstract:
Thermoplastic olefinic, polymer blends which have superior physical properties and adherence for coating materials such as paints are disclosed. The blends may be formed from various combinations of thermoplastic components such as a crystalline isotactic propylene polymers and sequentially polymerized blends of polypropylene and ethylene-propylene copolymers, with elastomeric components such as copolymers of ethylene and butene, and copolymers of ethylene and octene which are produced with metallocene or Kaminsky catalysts. If desired, other components, such as fillers, can be included. The thermoplastic olefinic, polymer blends are suitable for automotive applications.

US Patent:
57635340, Jun 9, 1998
Filed:
Jun 7, 1995
Appl. No.:
8/480175
Inventors:
Satchit Srinivasan - Carrollton TX
Edward Szczepaniak - Arlington TX
Sunit S. Shah - Irving TX
David K. Edge - New Boston MI
Assignee:

US Classification:
525240
Abstract:
Thermoplastic olefinic, polymer blends which have superior physical properties and adherence for coating materials such as paints are disclosed. The blends may be formed from various combinations of thermoplastic components such as homopolymers of propylene having an isotactic index which is greater than about 0. 93, and/or a crystallinity which is greater than about 56%, and sequentially polymerized blends of polypropylene and ethylene-propylene copolymers, with elastomeric components such as copolymers of ethylene and butene produced with metallocene or Kaminsky catalysts, and copolymers of ethylene and octene produced with metallocene or Kaminsky catalysts. If desired, other components, such as copolymers of ethylene with C. sub. 3 -C. sub. 15 alpha olefins or fillers, can be included.
