System And Method For Synchronizing Security Settings Of Control Systems

View page
US Patent:
8276186, Sep 25, 2012
Filed:
Jan 22, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/017583
Inventors:
Leslie Lee DeFord - Phoenix AZ, US
Steven Roby - Glendale AZ, US
Assignee:
Honeywell International Inc. - Morristown NJ
International Classification:
G06F 17/30
US Classification:
726 2, 726 4, 726 27, 726 28, 726 29, 713182, 713100
Abstract:
A method for communicating data between a first and second control system (FCS and SCS). FCS () controls a first process (FP) having first security data (FSD) in a first data security format (FDSF). The method involves modifying the FSD () from being in the FDSF into modified security data (MSD) in a modified security format (MSDF) compatible with SCS (). Subsequent to the modifying, a request is received from an SCS user. The request includes a user type, process parameter (PP) associated with the FP, and request for information regarding the PP or a request to change a PP value. The method also involves referencing the user type and PP to the MSD. The method further involves blocking or allowing the request based on results of the referencing. If results indicate that the request is allowed, then an access level can be impersonated for changing the PP value in FCS.

Local Control Network Processor (Lcnp) Emulator For Multi-Generation Control Systems

US Patent:
8341256, Dec 25, 2012
Filed:
Nov 11, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/944082
Inventors:
Rahul De - Karnataka, IN
Anand Sunit - Karnataka, IN
Nagore Hanifa Sikkandar Basha - Karnataka, IN
Sakthivel Renganathan - Karnataka, IN
Sarayu Subramanyam - Karnataka, IN
Neha Parasharami - Karnataka, IN
Ravi Gupta - Karnataka, IN
Steven Roby - Glendale AZ, US
Piotr Golenko - Phoenix AZ, US
Avinash Rajan - Karnataka, IN
Vilas Ingle - Karnataka, IN
Assignee:
Honeywell International Inc. - Morristown NJ
International Classification:
G06F 15/173
US Classification:
709223, 709249
Abstract:
A multi-generation distributed control system includes a first generation (FG) DCS connected to a local control network (LCN) including FG client nodes. A second generation (SG) DCS connected to a non-LCN data highway includes a server node connected between the LCN and the non-LCN data highway and SG client nodes. The server node includes a LCN processor (LCNP) board. LCNP emulator software including a server LCNP emulator software component is at the server node and a client LCNP emulator software component at the SG client nodes. The server LCNP emulator software component translates between LCN data and data highway protocol data and adds one of a plurality of LCN address slots to communications received from the LCN for delivery to the SG DCS that each correspond to a SG client node. Each client LCNP emulator software component provides one of the LCN address slots at its SG client node.

Apparatus And Method For Detecting Network Problems On Redundant Token Bus Control Network Using Traffic Sensor

View page
US Patent:
20190250976, Aug 15, 2019
Filed:
Feb 15, 2018
Appl. No.:
15/897300
Inventors:
- Morris Plains NJ, US
Steven Roby - Glendale AZ, US
International Classification:
G06F 11/07
G06F 13/40
Abstract:
An apparatus includes an interface configured to obtain data associated with multiple cables coupled to or forming a part of a redundant token bus control network. The apparatus also includes a traffic detector configured to determine whether valid data traffic is being received over the cables from the redundant token bus control network based on the data. The apparatus further includes at least one processing device configured to determine whether one or more of the cables has experienced a network fault or a return from a network fault based on the determination of whether valid data traffic is being received over the cables. The at least one processing device is also configured, in response to determining that one or more of the cables has experienced a network fault or a return from a network fault, to generate a notification that identifies the apparatus and the one or more cables and output the notification.
