B62D 21/02
B62D 27/06
Abstract:
Subframe brace apparatus and related assemblies for use with vehicles are disclosed. A disclosed vehicle assembly includes a subframe of a vehicle, a vehicle body structure, and a brace attaching the subframe to the vehicle body structure. A body of the brace includes a first end coupled to the subframe and a second end coupled to the vehicle body structure. The first end of the body is configured to remain connected to the subframe during an offset frontal vehicle impact event in which the subframe applies a first load to the first end. The first end of the body is also configured to separate from the subframe during a full frontal vehicle impact event in which the subframe applies a second load to the first end.

Hole-Filling Sleeve And Washer Design For Bolt Installation

View page
US Patent:
20160040709, Feb 11, 2016
Filed:
Aug 7, 2014
Appl. No.:
14/454161
Inventors:
- Chicago IL, US
Thomas D. Hall - Everett WA, US
Ryan M. Mahn - Lake Stevens WA, US
Javier Manriquez - Woodinville WA, US
International Classification:
F16B 43/00

Joint For Composite Wings

View page
US Patent:
20140131518, May 15, 2014
Filed:
Nov 13, 2012
Appl. No.:
13/675809
Inventors:
The Boeing Company - , US
Ryan M. Mahn - Lake Stevens WA, US
Karl B. Lee - Kirkland WA, US
Assignee:
THE BOEING COMPANY - Seal Beach CA
International Classification:
B64C 3/26
B64F 5/00
US Classification:
244131, 298972
Abstract:
A wing joint including a T-chord and a splice plate for connecting an inboard wing panel assembly and an outboard wing panel assembly. The wing panel assemblies include a stringer co-bonded or co-cured with a wing skin. The webbing and cap of the stringer may be trimmed to expose a noodle and base flange. The noodle and base flange interface with the bottom of the T-chord and the wing skin interfaces with the splice plate. The exposed noodle may be non-flush with the base flange of the trimmed stringer. The bottom of the T-chord may include a groove to accommodate a non-flush noodle so that a gap does not exist between the T-chord and the base flange. Alternatively, shims may be used to compensate for a non-flush noodle or the base flange and web may include sacrificial plies permitting the base flange and web to be trimmed flush with the noodle.
