Method And Apparatus For Electromagnetic Drying Of Printed Media

View page
US Patent:
6901683, Jun 7, 2005
Filed:
Aug 18, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/642993
Inventors:
Ruthie D. Lyle - Durham NC, US
Jennifer Q. Trelewicz - Superior CO, US
Carl Robert Bildstein - Superior CO, US
Assignee:
International Business Machines Corporation - Armonk NY
International Classification:
F26B003/34
US Classification:
34265, 34418, 34259, 219690, 219696
Abstract:
A method, apparatus and article of manufacture for providing electromagnetic drying of printed media. A resonant cavity allows support of standing waves along many radial axes throughout the resonant cavity. The electromagnetic drying unit allows forced air to be introduced into the resonant cavity, thereby reducing moisture within the resonant cavity and extending the life of the resonant cavity. Input and output openings may be arranged longitudinally along the resonant cavity and may be designed to substantially reduce the amount of electromagnetic radiation emanating from them during operation. A honeycomb feature at the end of the resonant cavity may allow egress of the forced air, while substantially reducing the amount of electromagnetic radiation emanating from the end of the resonant cavity.

Abstract:
A process, system, and apparatus are disclosed for mitigating access point data rate degradation with respect to a wireless communication between a wireless access point and a wireless client device. A channel assessment module is configured to assess the wireless communications, including interference signals, present on available wireless communications channels. The channel assessment module may establish quality parameters that at least partially describe the wireless communications quality of a given channel. A channel selection module is configured to select a best wireless communications channel based on the communications channel assessment. A channel connection module is configured to facilitate wireless communication between the wireless access point and the wireless client device on the best wireless communications channel.

Apparatus, System, And Method For Exchanging Vehicle Identification Data

View page
US Patent:
7069118, Jun 27, 2006
Filed:
Sep 30, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/677027
Inventors:
Candice Leontine Coletrane - Morrisville NC, US
Ruthie D. Lyle - Durham NC, US
McGill Quinn - Durham NC, US
Assignee:
International Business Machines Corporation - Armonk NY
International Classification:
B60Q 1/00
G08G 1/01
US Classification:
701 1, 701117, 340436
Abstract:
An apparatus, a system, and a process for exchanging vehicle identification information subsequent to a collision are provided. The apparatus, system, and process include a host identification device connected to a vehicle data system of a host vehicle. At the time of collision the vehicle data system sends the host identification device a collision indication. Responsive to the collision indication, the host identification device establishes a wireless network connection with one or more responding identification devices. The host identification device further assemblies a vehicle identifier. The vehicle identifier may be based on a unique vehicle identification number provided by the vehicle data system. The host identification device exchanges vehicle identifiers with one or more responding identification devices. In addition, the host identification device may store one or more vehicle identifiers.

View page
US Patent:
7490132, Feb 10, 2009
Filed:
Apr 16, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/103843
Inventors:
Ruthie D. Lyle - Durham NC, US
Arthur R. Francis - Raleigh NC, US
Assignee:
International Business Machines Corporation - Armonk NY
International Classification:
