GM GLOBAL TECHNOLOGY OPERATIONS LLC - Detroit MI
International Classification:
G06F 17/00
E05F 15/00
US Classification:
701 49
Abstract:
Passive verification of operator presence in handling requests for vehicle includes initiating activation of a power-operated vehicle component that is subject to a supervised control mechanism. The activation is initiated in response to a request from an operator-controlled device. The passive verification also includes verifying a presence of the operator-controlled device indicative of a presence of an operator of a vehicle, transmitting intermittent signals to the operator-controlled device, monitoring response signals received in response to the intermittent signals, and continuing activation of the power-operated vehicle component until the activation is complete so long as the response signals are received responsive to the monitoring.

Abstract:
A remote keyless system (RKS) includes a remote control device configured to create a signal having at least a component at a first frequency and an antenna assembly coupled to a vehicle that includes a first antenna tuned to receive a signal in a frequency band. The RKS also includes a first filter coupled to the first antenna and configured to pass the first frequency and a second filter coupled to the first antenna and configured to pass the frequency band. The RKS also includes a remote keyless system controller coupled to the first filter that, upon receipt of a predetermined signal, causes the vehicle to perform an action. The first frequency is an integer multiple of a frequency in the frequency band.

Method And System For Detecting Vehicle Occupants

B60Q 5/00
B60Q 1/52
E05F 15/73
G01S 7/41
Abstract:
One general aspect includes a method to detect occupants within a vehicle interior, the method including: calculating a current received signal strength indication (RSSI) within a vehicle interior; comparing the current RSSI to a reference RSSI; and based on comparing the current RSSI and reference RSSI, activating one or more vehicle systems.

Reduction Of Driver Distraction Due To A Cellular Device

View page
US Patent:
20190230213, Jul 25, 2019
Filed:
Jan 19, 2018
Appl. No.:
15/874982
Inventors:
- Detroit MI, US
Joseph M. Polewarczyk - Rochester Hills MI, US
Ron Y. Asmar - West Bloomfield MI, US
Richard Lange - Troy MI, US
International Classification:
H04M 1/725
H04W 4/02
Abstract:
A system and method to control a cellular device in a vehicle includes determining whether the cellular device is associated with a driver of the vehicle based on a location of the cellular device or an identity of the cellular device. The method also includes signaling the cellular device to inhibit functionality of the cellular device based on determining that the cellular device is associated with the driver of the vehicle. The inhibiting functionality includes disabling one or more functions of the cellular device.

Dynamic Assignment Of Driver Identifiers And Related Adjustment Of Vehicle Settings Based On Detection Of Driver Identifiers

View page
US Patent:
20170369071, Dec 28, 2017
Filed:
Jun 24, 2016
Appl. No.:
15/192716
Inventors:
- Detroit MI, US
DOUGLAS C. MARTIN - OXFORD MI, US
MARK J. GLAZA - WARREN MI, US
RON Y. ASMAR - WEST BLOOMFIELD MI, US
DAVID T. PROEFKE - TROY MI, US
CHARLES J. BONGIORNO - STERLING HEIGHTS MI, US
Assignee:
GM GLOBAL TECHNOLOGY OPERATIONS LLC - Detroit MI
International Classification:
B60W 50/00
B60R 25/24
Abstract:
An automated vehicle configuration system for a host vehicle is presented here. The system includes a driver identifier module onboard the host vehicle, and a subsystem onboard the vehicle. The driver identifier module has a database and a processor device to execute processor-executable instructions. The database has database objects, each having a driver identifier, at least one key fob code, and at least one mobile device identifier. The processor device executes the instructions to dynamically populate and update the database objects such that key fob codes are dynamically assigned and reassigned to driver identifiers. The subsystem has user-specific configurable settings associated with the driver identifier objects. Selection of an active driver identifier results in the loading of corresponding settings for the subsystem.
