System And Method For Call Merge To An Ain Ssp From An Intelligent Peripheral

View page
US Patent:
6771762, Aug 3, 2004
Filed:
Jul 13, 2000
Appl. No.:
09/615808
Inventors:
Hwey Chang - Morganville NJ
Pamela Lilly DeFazio - Ocean NJ
Romel R. Khan - Eatontown NJ
Maura Elizabeth Marcus - Middletown NJ
Gary A. Munson - Little Silver NJ
Gautham Natarajan - Marlboro Township NJ
Assignee:
ATT Corp. - New York NY
International Classification:
H04M 700
US Classification:
37921111, 37922108, 379230
Abstract:
An AIN system having a service switching point (SSP), a service control point (SCP) and an intelligent peripheral (IPe) is disclosed. A calling party makes a call to a called party which results in a trigger signal at the originating SSP. The trigger signal causes the SSP to access the SCP which, in turn, sends a Send_to_Resource message to the SSP. In response to the Send_to_Resource message, the SSP establishes a first connection to an IPe, whose functionality is required. The IPe establishes a second connection carrying a second call to the called party, the first and second calls being connected at the IPe. The IPe subsequently requests that the SSP merge the first and second calls. In response, the call between the called party and the calling party is connected via the SSP, thereby releasing the IPe connections formerly used to connect calling and called parties.

Method And System For Providing Billing Capability For A Service Node In An Advanced Intelligent Network Environment

US Patent:
6980632, Dec 27, 2005
Filed:
Dec 28, 2001
Appl. No.:
10/029343
Inventors:
Devinne H. Brown - Freehold NJ, US
Hwey Chang - Morganville NJ, US
Romel R. Khan - Eatontown NJ, US
Michael Koptiw - Red Bank NJ, US
Antoinette Rule - Trenton NJ, US
Tejanand Sarju - Brooklyn NY, US
Assignee:
AT&T Corp. - New York NY
International Classification:
H04M015/00
US Classification:
37911428, 37912703, 37920201
Abstract:
Embodiments of the present invention relate to billing for services in an Advanced Intelligent Network (AIN) environment. A first call is received at a service node from a service switching point located in the AIN. A second call is established through the service switching point to a called party. The first call is bridged with the second call and the bridged call is monitored for signaling information. The bridged call is processed based on the monitored signaling information. A billing module is created for the processed call at the service node. The billing module may include service values related to billing information for the processed call. The processed call may be merged back into the service switching point and the created billing module for the processed call may be sent to the service switching point for ultimate delivery to a billing system.

Abstract:
18A method and system for controlling the switching and control operation of at least one of an Softswitch system, an Signal Transfer Points (STP) and a gateway (GW) (e. g. , in a SS7 signaling environment). By providing support for redundancy, a second switch system can take over the routing and control operations of a first switch system when the first switch system experiences difficulty. Difficulty may be any one of several forms (e. g. , switch crash, congestion, hardware failure).

Filed:
Dec 10, 2001
Appl. No.:
10/013739
Inventors:
Hwey Chang - Marlboro Township NJ, US
Pamela DeFazio - Ocean NJ, US
Romel Khan - Eatontown NJ, US
Gary Munson - Little Silver NJ, US

Abstract:
An enhanced intelligent network telephony system includes at least one service nodes (SN) imbued with special routing, message handling and billing capabilities. Using the Extension Parameter in an Analyze-Route message, a service control point (SCP) provides a set of service node parameters including service node identification and message content. The SN receives, processes and implements the services corresponding to the message content. Included among these may be announcement IDs corresponding to announcements, such as advertisements, that the SN can initiate at an intelligent peripheral for playing to calling and called parties, and routing numbers which the SN can use to route a particular destination under certain conditions as per the service needs. The SN is also able to request an originating switch to update an Automated Message Accounting (AMA) record created at the originating switch, using information created by the SN.
