Motor Controller System For Battery-Powered Motors

View page
US Patent:
20030222607, Dec 4, 2003
Filed:
Sep 26, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/240078
Inventors:
Satoru Simizu - Pittsburgh PA, US
Y. Cho - Pittsburgh PA, US
Arkady Margolin - Pittsburgh PA, US
Richard Obermyer - Export PA, US
Suryanarayan Sankar - Pittsburgh PA, US
International Classification:
H02P001/00
US Classification:
318/139000
Abstract:
A motor controller system () for dc power source motors () which includes a sensor device () that operates to measure and generate a voltage signal from the motor current and the rate of change of said current, and a programmable input/output processor () which receives voltage signals as input from the motor current, dc power source () and/or motor () and compares on or more of these voltage signals to one or more control parameters. Based upon these comparisons, the processor () generates a pulse width modulation control signal, which triggers a switching mechanism () and related interrupt service routing to make adjustments to the operational parameters of the motor by periodic interruption of the motor current.

US Patent:
20110059005, Mar 10, 2011
Filed:
May 5, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/151239
Inventors:
Suryanarayan G. Sankar - Pittsburgh PA, US
Satoru Simizu - Pittsburgh PA, US
Brian J. Zande - Pittsburgh PA, US
Richard T. Obermyer - Delmont PA, US
International Classification:
C01B 21/06
US Classification:
423409
Abstract:
A method of making iron nitride powder is provided. The method comprises the steps of: a) providing an iron-based starting material; b) reducing the starting material by heating the starting material in a fluidized bed reactor in the presence of a reducing agent; c) nitriding the material obtained from step (b) by contacting the material with a nitrogen source. Also provided is the iron nitride powder made by the above method.
