Filed:
May 12, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/843982
Inventors:
Randolph L. Auclair - New Hartford CT, US
Assignee:
Electric Motion Company, Inc. - Winsted CT
International Classification:
H01R004/66
US Classification:
439 92, 439803, 174 51
Abstract:
A meter box ground clamp for clamping a ground wire to a metallic meter box includes a clamp body, a wedge body, a bolt member and a ground engagement bolt. The clamp body has a base segment and first and second leg segments, each of the leg segments having a laterally extending extension segment for engaging the exterior surface of the meter box drip cap. The wedge body includes an upper segment disposed proximate to the clamp body legs, a lower segment disposed proximate to the clamp body base segment, and a middle segment extending from the lower segment, through a slot of the clamp body base segment, to the upper segment. The bolt member head is disposed above an upper portion of the clamp body base segment, with the shaft extending downwardly through an opening of the base segment upper portion. The bolt member shaft threadably engages an opening of the wedge body middle segment for driving the wedge body upper portion between the meter box drip cap and the meter box panel to electrically connect the ground clamp to the meter box. The threaded shaft of the ground engagement bolt is received within a threaded opening of the wedge body lower segment to clamp a ground wire positioned within a bore of the wedge body lower segment.

Abstract:
A locate wire connector provides a grounding wire connection for the locate wire of a fiber optic cable. The locate wire is partially separated from the fiber optic cable. A conductive stripper in the connector establishes electrical communication with the locate wire conductor upon placing the locate wire and fiber optic cable in the connector and closing same. A stud extending from the cover of the connector provides a terminal for connecting a ground wire. The connector may also contain a gel to ensure a waterproof grounding connection.

Service Cable Ground Connector Assembly

View page
US Patent:
50510983, Sep 24, 1991
Filed:
Dec 13, 1990
Appl. No.:
7/626842
Inventors:
William T. Auclair - Winsted CT
Randolph L. Auclair - New Hartford CT
Assignee:
Electric Motion Company, Inc. - Winsted CT
International Classification:
H01R 466
US Classification:
439 99
Abstract:
A ground connector assembly for a service cable employs a protective clip which is inserted between the inner sheath and the shield of a service cable. A machine screw is inserted between the clip and the shield to secure the clip in force-fit relationship. A terminal plate integrally extends from the clip and includes an aperture for connecting the assembly with a ground point.

Cable Shield Ground Clamp

View page
US Patent:
55973140, Jan 28, 1997
Filed:
Feb 28, 1995
Appl. No.:
8/395453
Inventors:
William T. Auclair - Winsted CT
John W. Auclair - Norfolk CT
Randolph L. Auclair - New Hartford CT
Assignee:
Electric Motion Company, Inc. - Winsted CT
International Classification:
H01R 13648
US Classification:
439 98
Abstract:
A ground clamp for clamping to a cable shield to provide a ground connection employs a U-shaped yoke. A keeper has a driver which threadably engages thread surfaces at the interior side of the yoke legs. The keeper has a clamp jaw which may be compressively engaged against a cable shield received in an aperture defined by the yoke. A surface of the clamp jaw and a surface of the driver have complementary radially extending projections and grooves, respectively. The projections are received by the grooves when the clamp jaw engages the cable shield to resist relative movement between the driver and the clamp jaw. The yoke then connects to a common ground point via a flexible ground wire connection. A protective shoe may be inserted between the cable conductors and the clamp jaw to prevent crushing of the connectors.

Threaded Terminal Connector

View page
US Patent:
51318610, Jul 21, 1992
Filed:
Nov 21, 1991
Appl. No.:
7/795490
Inventors:
William T. Auclair - Winsted CT
Randolph L. Auclair - New Hartford CT
Assignee:
Electric Motion Company, Inc. - Winsted CT
International Classification:
H01R 1300
US Classification:
439218
Abstract:
A terminal connector for a ground wire employs a threaded sleeve. The sleeve is configured and dimensioned with a bore having threaded portions of different sizes so that the terminus of the ground wires of different sizes can be alternatively threaded to the sleeve. An extension connected to the sleeve includes an opening that is dimensioned for mounting the connector to a terminal post.

Combination Messenger Strand Ground And Cable Lashing Wire Clamp

View page
US Patent:
59678054, Oct 19, 1999
Filed:
Feb 4, 1998
Appl. No.:
9/018699
Inventors:
William T. Auclair - Winsted CT
Randolph L. Auclair - New Hartford CT
Assignee:
Electric Motion Company, Inc. - Winsted CT
International Classification:
H01R 466
US Classification:
439100
Abstract:
A combination messenger strand ground and cable lashing clamp comprising a jaw for gripping the messenger strand and a clamp assembly which is engageable with the jaw for clamping the jaw to the messenger strand. The jaw and clamp assembly are composed of electrically conductive material. The jaw is comprised of opposingly positioned jaw members. The clamp assembly is comprised of a stud-like member which is received by openings in each jaw member. A flanged portion of the stud engages the first jaw member. A first nut is threadably positionable on the stud to engage the second jaw member. Applying torque to the first nut clamps the second jaw member and the first jaw member together thereby clamping the messenger strand between jaw member claws and causing the jaw member teeth to pierce the messenger strand insulation and engage the messenger strand conductor. A ground connection portion of the stud engages the ground connector and completes the ground connection electrical path through the clamp assembly and jaw to the messenger conductor. The lashing wire is positioned between first and second washers and a second nut is torqued into engagement with the second washer to clamp the lashing wire between the washers.

US Patent:
6329592, Dec 11, 2001
Filed:
Aug 10, 2000
Appl. No.:
9/636164
Inventors:
Randolph L. Auclair - New Hartford CT
Assignee:
Electric Motion Company, Inc. - Winsted CT
International Classification:
H05K 502
US Classification:
174 51
Abstract:
A ground clamp for connecting an edge portion of the metallic enclosure of an electrical meter box with a ground conductor. The ground clamp includes a U-shaped clamp member, a bolt member, and means for mounting the ground conductor. First and second legs of the clamp member define a slot and a pair of openings in the first leg form a center segment which separates a pair of fingers. The edge portion of the meter box enclosure is resiliently clamped within the slot between the fingers and the second leg. The center segment includes a socket having an inner surface, at least a portion of which has a thread. The bolt member has a stud portion and a bolt head portion, the stud portion including a threaded segment disposed proximate the distal end and an unthreaded shaft segment disposed intermediate the threaded segment and the bolt head portion. At least one protrusion extends axially from the distal end of the bolt member to a sharp edge. The stud portion is mounted in the socket of the clamp member such that the shaft segment is positioned in the threaded portion of the socket and the threaded segment is positioned within the slot when the sharp edge of the protrusion contacts the exterior surface of the edge portion received within the slot.
