Surface Applied Abrasive Cleaning Apparatus And Method

View page
US Patent:
20110217907, Sep 8, 2011
Filed:
Jan 20, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/010749
Inventors:
Dusan Mrak - Anacortes WA, US
Eric C. Hauge - Chico CA, US
Peter L. Madonna - Federal Way WA, US
Rick M. Tarver - Oklahoma City OK, US
International Classification:
B24C 3/00
US Classification:
451 75
Abstract:
A rotor assembly is provided for blast processing. The rotor assembly includes multiple lofting elements to create a vortex to loft particulate material to be used to process a target, and multiple elements to project the particulate material toward the target. The rotor assembly is enclosed within an operating chamber that has a target area into which the particulate material is projected to strike the target. There may further be angled deflectors at the opening to direct particulate material back toward the rotor assembly to use the material for further processing. Certain components are easily adjustable for different sizes and shapes of target. The action of the rotor assembly enables the use of up to 100% pure grit for entire cleaning processes, and provides single pass hook profile on any common material surface.

Method And Apparatus For Producing A High-Velocity Particle Stream

View page
US Patent:
61685038, Jan 2, 2001
Filed:
Jul 9, 1998
Appl. No.:
9/113975
Inventors:
Y. H. Michael Pao - Houston TX
Peter L. Madonna - Auburn WA
Ross T. Coogan - Houston TX
Assignee:
Waterjet Technology, Inc. - Kent WA
International Classification:
B24B 100
US Classification:
451 40
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for producing a high-velocity particle stream at low cost through multi-staged acceleration using different media in each stage, the particles are accelerated to a subsonic velocity (with respect to the velocity of sound in air) using one or more jets of gas at low cost, then further accelerated to a higher velocity using jets of water. Additionally, to enhance particle acceleration, a vortex motion is created, and the particles introduced into the fluid having vortex motion, thereby enhancing the delivery of particles to the target.

On-Off Dump Valve

View page
US Patent:
46659447, May 19, 1987
Filed:
Feb 14, 1985
Appl. No.:
6/701459
Inventors:
Gerald F. Wallace - Federal Way WA
Peter L. Madonna - Redmond WA
Assignee:
Flow Industries, Inc. - Kent WA
International Classification:
F16K 326
US Classification:
137580
Abstract:
This invention relates to a high pressure valve of the dump type. The valve body contains a slideable, hollow spool with ports connecting its interior and exterior. When the valve is in the on position, all ports are located in the pressurized portion of the valve body, and fluid flows to an outlet connected to the hollow spool. In the off position, at least one port is outside the pressurized area of the valve body, thereby relieving fluid pressure. The ports slide through a seal of self-pressurizing construction. The valve may also be used as a high pressure swivel, or combination valve swivel, by rotating the spool, if the spool is supported by bearings.
