View page
US Patent:
20100233504, Sep 16, 2010
Filed:
Mar 13, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/403607
Inventors:
Derek Anthony RICE - Phoenix AZ, US
Brian HANN - Avondale AZ, US
Pete KANTZOS - Chandler AZ, US
Assignee:
Honeywell International Inc. - Morristown NJ
International Classification:
B32B 3/00
B22F 3/12
B22F 1/00
US Classification:
428600, 419 29, 75330
Abstract:
There is provided a method for fabricating a dual microstructure component that may in turn be machined to fabricate a rotary element such as an impeller characterized as capable of withstanding high heat conditions for use in a gas turbine engine. The method provides a nickel based superalloy suitable for application of an impeller in a gas turbine engine. The bore region is manufactured having a grain size finer than ASTM 10.0 and the body region is manufactured having a grain size coarser than ASTM 7.0. The bore region and the body region define a dual microstructure and an interface.

US Patent:
6974508, Dec 13, 2005
Filed:
Oct 29, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/283220
Inventors:
Timothy P. Gabb - Independence OH, US
John Gayda - Avon Lake OH, US
Ignacy Telesman - Hudson OH, US
Pete T. Kantzos - Canton OH, US
Assignee:
The United States of America as represented by the United States National Aeronautics and Space Administration - Washington DC
International Classification:
C22C019/05
US Classification:
148428, 420447, 420448, 420449, 420450, 415200, 416223 R, 416241 R
Abstract:
A low solvus, high refractory alloy having unusually versatile processing mechanical property capabilities for advanced disks and rotors in gas turbine engines. The nickel base superalloy has a composition consisting essentially of, in weight percent, 3. 0–4. 0 Al, 0. 02–0. 04 B, 0. 02–0. 05 C, 12. 0–14. 0 Cr, 19. 0–22. 0 Co, 2. 0–3. 5 Mo, greater than 1. 0 to 2. 1 Nb, 1. 3 to 2. 1 Ta, 3. 0–4. 0 Ti, 4. 1 to 5. 0 W, 0. 03–0. 06 Zr, and balance essentially Ni aid incidental impurities. The superalloy combines ease of processing with high temperature capabilities to be suitable for use in various turbine engine disk, impeller, and shaft applications. The Co and Cr levels of the superalloy can provide low solvus temperature for high processing versatility. The W, Mo, Ta, and Nb refractory element levels of the superalloy can provide sustained strength, creep, and dwell crack growth resistance at high temperatures.

Net-Shape Or Near-Net Shape Powder Metal Components And Methods For Producing The Same

View page
US Patent:
20160279708, Sep 29, 2016
Filed:
Mar 26, 2015
Appl. No.:
14/669111
Inventors:
- Morristown NJ, US
Pete Kantzos - Chandler AZ, US
Assignee:
HONEYWELL INTERNATIONAL INC. - Morristown NJ
International Classification:
B22F 3/15
B22F 3/105
B23K 26/342
B22F 3/24
C22C 1/08
B22F 3/12
B22F 7/04
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to net-shape or near-net shape articles of manufacture and methods for producing the same. For example, a method for manufacturing net-shape or near-net shape metallic article includes the steps of: forming, using an additive manufacturing process, a metal can comprising a hollow interior portion, filling the hollow interior portion with a metal powder, and subjecting the metal can filled with the metal powder to a hot isostatic pressing (HIP) process to densify the metal powder. As another example, a net-shape or near-net shape metallic article of manufacture includes a metallic outer shell portion having a layer-by-layer fused microstructure that exhibits anisotropic mechanical and physical properties and a metallic inner core portion having a pressure-densified microstructure that exhibits isotropic mechanical and physical properties.
