Apparatus For Treating Fluids

View page
US Patent:
6649059, Nov 18, 2003
Filed:
Dec 10, 2001
Appl. No.:
10/016491
Inventors:
Michael T. Romanyszyn - San Antonio TX
Perry McGuar - San Antonio TX
Assignee:
Lancer Partnership, Ltd. - San Antonio TX
International Classification:
B02C 1906
US Classification:
2105122, 210188, 2105121, 210738, 210787, 241 5, 241 39, 3661624, 3661625, 3661732, 417171, 417194
Abstract:
In a method and apparatus for treating fluids, a pump delivers a fluid flow from a fluid source to a manifold. The manifold divides the fluid flow into first and second fluid flows, which are delivered from the manifold to a housing. The housing includes therein a first vortex nozzle positioned in opposed relationship to a second vortex nozzle. The first fluid flow enters the first vortex nozzle to create a first rotating fluid flow, and the second fluid flow enters the second vortex nozzle to create a second rotating fluid flow. The first and second vortex nozzles impinge the first and second rotating fluid flows in a collision chamber, thereby treating the fluid.

US Patent:
54588510, Oct 17, 1995
Filed:
Oct 29, 1993
Appl. No.:
8/145434
Inventors:
Alfred A. Schroeder - San Antonio TX
Perry McGuar - San Antonio TX
Assignee:
Packaged Ice, Inc. - Houston TX
International Classification:
A61L 218
A61L 224
F28G 900
B08B 308
US Classification:
422 28
Abstract:
An ice bagger includes a sanitizing system which periodically activates to sanitize the ice hopper. In operation, a flow of water is directed to the hopper to melt the ice in the hopper and to flush the melt water to a reservoir. A sanitizing agent is added to the water in the reservoir to form a sanitizing solution which is circulated throughout the hopper. After the sanitizing process, the sanitizing solution is drained from the reservoir and the reservoir is refilled with fresh water for rinsing the hopper.

Method For Automatically Bagging Ice Using A Timer And Multipositional Electronic Scale

View page
US Patent:
55819826, Dec 10, 1996
Filed:
Oct 10, 1995
Appl. No.:
8/541627
Inventors:
Alfred A. Schroeder - San Antonio TX
Perry McGuar - San Antonio TX
Thomas J. Chadwell - San Antonio TX
Assignee:
Packaged Ice, Inc.
International Classification:
B65B 4326
US Classification:
53459
Abstract:
An ice bagger comprises an ice maker, an ice bagging unit which includes an automatic sanitation system, and a merchandiser. The ice maker delivers particulate ice into a hopper housed within the ice bagging unit. The ice bagging unit includes a bag carrier which retrieves a bag from a bag supply and opens the bag underneath a delivery chute communicating with the hopper via an auger. A scale supports the bag during its filling to measure the weight of the ice delivered into the bag from the hopper. When the scale registers the desired amount of ice, the auger ceases to deliver ice from the hopper into the delivery chute. The ice bagging unit further includes a sealer arm and heating element wherein, after the bag is filled, the sealer arm pivots to detach the bag from the bag carrier and force both sides of the open end of the bag against the heating element. The heating element then activates to seal the bag closed. Once the bag has been closed, the scale pivots to deliver the sealed bag of ice into the merchandiser while the sealer arm raises to its original position.
