Remote Camera Relay Controller Method And Apparatus

View page
US Patent:
6400903, Jun 4, 2002
Filed:
Dec 22, 2000
Appl. No.:
09/681079
Inventors:
Paul Conoval - Reston VA, 20191
International Classification:
G03B 1738
US Classification:
396 56, 396396, 396263, 348 17
Abstract:
A remote camera relay method and apparatus for remotely operating a self-contained, unattended digital camera over a communications link. Format conversion means are included for transparently relaying control signals and remote image data between a local host processor and the remotely located digital camera, independently of specific camera command and image protocols. It thereby functions as a universal remote image transmission adapter, operable as an attachment for use with self-contained digital cameras. A portable enclosure is provided for accommodating the remote relay communications and control electronics and for attaching a hand-held digital camera thereto. Further means are included for remotely actuating the pan and tilt orientation of the camera in accordance with field-of-view selection commands. Data rate conversion and error correction coding are included for providing reliable, low power image forwarding. The communications channel could be a dial-up telephone system, a network connection, modem, an infra-red link or a wireless RF link, for example.

Cable Tension Measuring Apparatus

View page
US Patent:
41589629, Jun 26, 1979
Filed:
Mar 3, 1978
Appl. No.:
5/883300
Inventors:
Paul Conoval - Fort Lee NJ
International Classification:
G01L 510
US Classification:
73143
Abstract:
A method and apparatus is provided for measuring tension in stressed cables in which use is made of the relationship between the tension and the natural frequency of vibration of the cable. An electrical signal is generated by sensing the fluctuating field of a small permanent magnet attached to the vibrating cable and generating from this signal a periodic pulse signal having an average level proportional to the square of the cable variation frequency. The resulting signal is scaled to produce a final signal which is directly proportional to cable tension.

Writing Input And Dynamics Regeneration Device

View page
US Patent:
47035110, Oct 27, 1987
Filed:
Oct 9, 1986
Appl. No.:
6/917214
Inventors:
Paul Conoval - Reston VA
International Classification:
G06K 900
G01D 1510
US Classification:
382 13
Abstract:
A handwriting input method and apparatus for recreating handwriting dynamics. A time dependent code is first embedded in the writing path then later, after-the-fact, said code is detected by processing a digital representation of the writing image. Writing coordinates vs. associated time is decoded therefrom. After-the-fact writing position, velocity, and acceleration is derived from this data which can then be further processed by handwriting recognition and signature authentication devices. A code generating stylus is used to modify writing indicia by modulation of the writing markings thereby embedding time code information within the writing path. The modulated writing is generally uniform when viewed macroscopically but microscopically the embedded code becomes perceivable.
