US Patent:
20050226400, Oct 13, 2005
Filed:
Feb 10, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/054965
Inventors:
Norman Farber - Freehold NJ, US
Casem Majd - Holmdel NJ, US
Weiping Wang - Holmdel NJ, US
International Classification:
H04M015/00
H04M003/42
US Classification:
379114010, 379127010, 379133000, 379112010
Abstract:
A method for improving traffic flow over a first network by adjusting the ratio and identity of traffic offloaded to a second network based on analysis of call detail records (CDRs).

Systems And Methods For Adjusting Carrier Quality Metrics For Intrinsic Impariments

View page
US Patent:
20130163452, Jun 27, 2013
Filed:
Dec 24, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/337088
Inventors:
Casem MAJD - Holmdel NJ, US
Stephen Vansaders - Manalapan NJ, US
Gopala Rao - Holmdel NJ, US
Nirav J. Kadakia - Parlin NJ, US
Andrew Bucko - Old Bridge NJ, US
International Classification:
H04L 12/26
US Classification:
370252
Abstract:
An Internet protocol (IP) telephony system terminates calls to certain groups of telephone numbers via multiple different telephony carriers. The IP telephony system will discontinue using a telephony carrier to terminate calls if the quality provided by the carrier falls below a threshold level. The IP telephony system includes a quality monitoring unit that determines when a particular group of telephone numbers are intrinsically impaired, such that no carrier could provide high quality when terminating calls to those numbers. In these circumstances, the IP telephony system adjusts the quality threshold to which a carrier's quality is compared when completing calls to the impaired numbers to account for the intrinsic impairment of the telephone numbers.

Systems And Methods Of Integrating Call Detail Record Information From Multiple Sources

US Patent:
20130163581, Jun 27, 2013
Filed:
Dec 22, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/335108
Inventors:
Casem Majd - Holmdel NJ, US
Paul Beyer - Holmdel NJ, US
Andrew Bucko - Old Bridge NJ, US
Rohan Dwarkha - Mendham NJ, US
Nirav J. Kadakia - Parlin NJ, US
Stephen Vansaders - Manalapan NJ, US
International Classification:
H04L 12/66
US Classification:
370352
Abstract:
A system for establishing Internet protocol based telephony communications between a calling telephony device and a called telephony device includes multiple logical elements that help to setup and carry the telephony communication. Multiple ones of the logical elements create call detail records that contain data about the telephony communication. Information contained in the call detail records is used to determine which call detail records relate to the same telephony communication. Once the call detail records relating to the same telephony communication are identified, a global identification number can be written into each of the call detail records to tie them together, or information drawn from the multiple call detail records can be used to create a single consolidated call detail record.

Method For Fault Detection And Fast Protection Switching In Transmission Systems

View page
US Patent:
6587974, Jul 1, 2003
Filed:
Nov 19, 1999
Appl. No.:
09/443358
Inventors:
Casem Majd - Eatontown NJ
Morten Nissov - Holmdel NJ
Assignee:
Tyco Telecommunications (US) Inc. - Morristown NJ
International Classification:
H04L 122
US Classification:
714 56, 370253
Abstract:
The present invention provides a method of detecting and correcting a fault in a signal transmission system. The method for detecting and correcting signal transmission faults in a signal transmission system includes bi-directional signaling on the same fiber, cable or signal line. A fault in a transmitted signal from a first upstream node to a second downstream node is determined by the loss or degradation of a signal simultaneously transmitted from the second downstream node to the first upstream node transmitted in the opposite on the same cable, signal line, or optical fiber. As a result, the aggregate propagation delay of the transmitted signals necessary for fault detection and fault notification is reduced and the amount of time to detect a fault and restore fault free signal transmission between one node and another node in a signal transmission systems is reduced, thereby increasing user satisfaction with minimal signal transmission interruptions even in the case of a transmission line fault. Further, a transmission line fault may be detected prior to transmission of a desired signal so that an alternate traffic route may be predetermined before transmission of the desired signal.

US Patent:
20140321461, Oct 30, 2014
Filed:
Apr 29, 2013
Appl. No.:
13/872852
Inventors:
- Holmdel NJ, US
CASEM MAJD - HOLMDEL NJ, US
Assignee:
VONAGE NETWORK LLC - Holmdel NJ
International Classification:
H04L 12/721
US Classification:
370389
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for routing a telecommunication connection request on an internal telecommunication network are provided herein. In some embodiments, the method may receive a request to establish a telecommunication connection, determine a route to an external telecommunication network to facilitate the establishment of the telecommunication connection based on information associated with the external telecommunication network and internal network conditions of the internal telecommunication network, and route telecommunication network traffic over the internal telecommunication network using the determined route to the external telecommunication network.
