Abstract:
A surgical pad and tray for securing surgical implements and sharp items employed during surgery. The surgical pad and tray is for placement on a drape covering the patient, or directly on the patient. It includes a retention layer into which sharp items may be partially embedded, and a puncture resistant layer underlying the retention layer. Abstract:
A waste collection system for the collection and containment of contaminated fluids comprises a receptacle having at least one sidewall, a bottom portion and an open top portion. A containment means engaged with the receptacle for sealing the open top portion of the receptacle in a fluid tight manner and for retaining the contaminated fluids within the receptacle. A valve means associated with the containment means. The valve means extending a predetermined distance below the plane of the containment means. An aperture extending through the valve means. This aperture having a size and shape capable of allowing a fluid deposit member to extend there through. A fluid directing means extending from the aperture into the receptacle for directing contaminated fluid deposited therein away from the aperture and into the receptacle.

Abstract:
The present invention provides such a surgical light handle cover with ridges. A second ridge engages the outer rim of the light handles flange, while a first ridge and a generally conical portion create a suctional force to more securely attach the cover to the non-sterile handle. The ridges and a guard portion help to minimize the chance of accidental contamination. The surgical light handle cover of the present invention is disposable, sterilizable and obviates the need for adhesives to attach the cover to the light handle.

Abstract:
A single-use patient positioning and warming pad configured to be placed between a patient and an operating table during a surgical procedure is provided. The pad includes a viscoelastic foam body having a top portion and a bottom portion; a heating element at least partially disposed between the top portion and the bottom portion of the foam body; and an electrical connector having a proximal end portion enclosed within the foam body connected to the heating element and a distal end portion extending from the foam body, configured to directly or indirectly connect to a power source and/or control unit for the heating element. Optionally, the foam body is formed from a foam material having sufficient viscosity and resiliency to maintain positioning of the patient relative to the operating table during surgical procedures in which the operating table is moved to an inclined position.

A patient protection system and method for using the same includes a face mask structure configured to protect the head of a patient during surgical procedures. The face mask structure includes a foam body having an exterior surface and an interior surface configured to be oriented towards the patient's face to cover the patient's face during the surgical procedure; and at least one foam pad positioned on the interior surface of the face mask structure and configured to contact the patient's face during the surgical procedure. The face mask structure and the at least one foam pad are manufactured from different types of foam.
