Abstract:
One or more embodiments relate, generally, to a reusable accessory for a medication injection pen. Such a reusable accessory may be adapted to be reversibly attached to a medication injection pen, and configured to detect an event associated with an injection of medication from the medication injection pen. It may also be configured to determine a percentage of medication that remains active for injection by the medication injection pen based on timing information and dosing event information.

A monitoring feature, such as, for example, a pen cap, for an insulin delivery device may include at least one circuit adapted to detect at least one of a capping or decapping of the pen cap from an insulin pen and a processor for using information to the at least one of a capping or decapping of the pen cap. A monitoring feature for an insulin delivery device includes at least one circuit adapted to detect use of the insulin delivery device.

One or more embodiments of the disclosure are related, generally, to a reusable accessory for a manual medication delivery device. Such a reusable accessory may include a wireless communication interface, a detection circuitry, and a recommendation system. In one or more embodiments, an adapter may be configured to reversibly couple such a reusable accessory to a manual medication delivery device. Dosing events may be detected that are associated with dosing at the manual medication delivery device. Dose recommendations may be provided responsive to analyte measurements and/or dosing events.

Such a system may include a glucose sensor system, a reusable insulin dosing detector, and a recommendation system. The reusable insulin dosing detector may be configured to be reversibly connectable to a disposable component that may form part of an insulin manual delivery assembly. The reusable insulin dosing detector may be configured to detect insulin delivery associated with the insulin manual delivery assembly.
