Pinch Valve Construction

View page
US Patent:
41251253, Nov 14, 1978
Filed:
May 3, 1976
Appl. No.:
5/682512
Inventors:
Levi I. Ezekoye - Pittsburgh PA
Spiros G. Raftis - Pittsburgh PA
International Classification:
F16K 4300
US Classification:
137315
Abstract:
An improved pinch valve construction wherein the pinch valve sleeve can be removed as required while the pinch valve construction is connected to mating pipe with there being no leakage of the fluid to the environment.

Valve Packing Leakage Monitoring Device

View page
US Patent:
45733449, Mar 4, 1986
Filed:
Jun 19, 1984
Appl. No.:
6/622295
Inventors:
Levi I. Ezekoye - Wilkinsburg PA
Assignee:
Westinghouse Electric Corp. - Pittsburgh PA
International Classification:
G01M 328
US Classification:
73 46
Abstract:
A device for monitoring leakage of fluid across a seal in a component connected to a pressurized fluid system. The device includes a housing defining a chamber which includes an inlet for receiving fluid leaking across the seal and an outlet. A plate having an orifice is disposed in the chamber transverse to the longitudinal axis of the chamber and between the inlet and outlet for dividing the chamber into a first chamber volume for receiving fluid through the inlet and a second chamber volume for receiving fluid through the orifice and for discharging the fluid through the outlet. A plug is movably mounted for adjusting the open area in the plane of the orifice in the plate. A positioning arrangement is connected to the plug for positioning the plug to create a predetermined open area in the plane of the orifice for permitting the fluid to exit the first chamber volume through the orifice at the same rate at which it enters the first chamber volume when the rate of fluid entering the first chamber volume is at or below a given rate. The positioning arrangement is further responsive to fluid entering the first chamber volume at a rate greater than the given rate for moving the plug away from the orifice so that the fluid exiting the first chamber volume will continue to equal the rate at which the fluid enters the first chamber volume. A device for detecting the movement of the plug produces an output signal corresponding to the distance moved by the plug.

Multi-Position Multi-Purpose Support And Storage Structure

View page
US Patent:
40645800, Dec 27, 1977
Filed:
Oct 13, 1976
Appl. No.:
5/731921
Inventors:
Levi Ike Ezekoye - Pittsburgh PA
International Classification:
A47C 702
A47C 2200
US Classification:
5327B
Abstract:
A multi-position support structure providing a firm support surface selectively disposable at different angles for supporting articles or portions of the human body. The device also provides interior space for the storage of articles such as books or magazines.

Nuclear Reactor Plant Having Containment Isolation

View page
US Patent:
56848463, Nov 4, 1997
Filed:
Sep 21, 1995
Appl. No.:
8/531684
Inventors:
Timothy K. Meneely - Penn Hills PA
Levi Ike Ezekoye - Pittsburgh PA
Thomas J. Laubham - Irwin PA
Assignee:
Westinghouse Electric Corporation - Pittsburgh PA
International Classification:
G21C 900
US Classification:
376293
Abstract:
A nuclear reactor plant has a nuclear reactor vessel in a containment vessel. Air ducts, sump discharge lines, service water lines and other non-process non-critical lines extending through the wall of the containment vessel can be isolated passively (i. e. , without instrumentation and control systems or power) should a postulated event which raises the atmospheric temperature within the containment vessel occur. The passive containment isolation system includes an isolation valve disposed in the non-process line and an actuator responsive to the atmospheric temperature within the containment vessel. The actuator is operatively connected with the isolation valve for closing the non-process line in response to the atmospheric temperature. The actuator is preferably disposed in or adjacent a containment sump at the bottom of the reactor vessel or adjacent the reactor vessel cavity where the temperature of the local atmosphere will most rapidly rise.

Primary Coolant System Of A Nuclear Power Plant For Providing Coolant To A Primary Loop

View page
US Patent:
55197434, May 21, 1996
Filed:
Sep 2, 1994
Appl. No.:
8/298967
Inventors:
Theo van de Venne - Murrysville PA
Timothy K. Meneely - Penn Hills PA
Levi I. Ezekoye - Pittsburgh PA
Thomas J. Laubham - Irwin PA
Assignee:
Westinghouse Electric Corporation - Pittsburgh PA
International Classification:
G21C 1518
US Classification:
376282
Abstract:
A primary coolant system of a nuclear power plant for providing coolant to a reactor vessel, the primary coolant system comprises a primary loop for transferring heat away from the reactor vessel. An accumulator tank for containing water under a pressurized, gaseous atmosphere is attached to the primary loop via a coupling, which provides an outlet for the coolant from the accumulator tank to pass to the primary loop. A valve, which includes a pressure sensor that senses the pressure in the accumulator tank and opens or closes the coolant flow in the coupling in response to the sensed pressure, is attached to the coupling for sensing the pressure in the accumulator tank. The valve senses the pressure in the accumulator, causes the coolant to pass substantially through the coupling at a substantially high flow rate when the pressure in the accumulator tank is relatively high and causes the coolant to pass from the accumulator tank to the circulation loop substantially through the coupling at a substantially low rate when the pressure in the accumulator tank is relatively low which, in turn, provides long term cooling of the reactor vessel.
