Two Way Cover Assembly

View page
US Patent:
47225807, Feb 2, 1988
Filed:
Aug 11, 1986
Appl. No.:
6/894388
Inventors:
Timothy L. Kocher - Harrisburg PA
Lahman D. Lambert - Mechanicsburg PA
Earl W. McCleerey - Mechanicsburg PA
James P. Ward - Harrisburg PA
Assignee:
AMP Incorporated - Harrisburg PA
International Classification:
H01R 1358
US Classification:
439466
Abstract:
A cover and strain relief assembly is disclosed for use with known elongated electrical connectors for providing either a 90. degree. or 180. degree. cable exit from the connector. The subject cover assembly has three pieces including a yoke that engages a mounting flange of the connector and a pair of mating panels which snap together engaging both the yoke and the cable. The mating panels can be reversibly connected, with respect to the manner in which they engage the yoke to yield a 90. degree. or a 180. degree. cable exit from the connector. The panels can further be provided with adjustable cable strain relief means.

Electrical Connections For Shielded Coaxial Conductors

View page
US Patent:
46538402, Mar 31, 1987
Filed:
Jun 20, 1986
Appl. No.:
6/876529
Inventors:
Dimitry G. Grabbe - Middletown PA
Lahman D. Lambert - Mechanicsburg PA
Assignee:
AMP Incorporated - Harrisburg PA
International Classification:
H01R 1718
US Classification:
339177R
Abstract:
The ends of shielded coaxial conductors are connected to each other by a housing assembly comprising two or more housing blocks. The housing blocks have mating faces which are opposed to, and against, each other. The conductors are prepared by stripping the insulation and the shielding from the end and stripping the insulation only from an adjacent portion of each conductor. The stripped ends are in overlapping relationship and are pressed against each other by compressed blocks of plastic material. The plastic compresing blocks are held against the conductors by compressing bars which in turn are urged against the compressing blocks by a compressed elastomeric material. The dielectric constant of the plastic compressing blocks and the spacing between the overlapping stripped ends of the conductors and the surfaces of the compressing bars are selected such that the impedance in the zone of the electrical connection is compatible with the impedance of the cables.

Adapter For Stacking Connector Assembly

View page
US Patent:
51374625, Aug 11, 1992
Filed:
Aug 13, 1991
Appl. No.:
7/744135
Inventors:
Daniel T. Casey - Harrisburg PA
Lahman D. Lambert - Carlisle PA
Assignee:
AMP Incorporated - Harrisburg PA
International Classification:
H01R 909
H01R 1362
H01R 1364
US Classification:
439 74
Abstract:
An adapter for interconnecting receptacle contact sections of opposing connectors includes a housing and a plurality of contacts contained therein and having first and second pin contact sections extending in first and second arrays from first and second mating faces of the adapter matable with the receptacle contact sections of the connectors. A pair of side walls extend along two opposing sides of the first array to leading edges, and a plurality of latching ledges extend inwardly from the leading edges to latch behind corresponding latching surfaces along outer surfaces of one of the connectors, while being matable with the other connector without latching thereto, facilitating disassembly, all without requiring modification to the connectors. The side walls deflect outwardly as the latching ledges pass over side surfaces of the one connector until latched. The adapter is useful in interconnecting two circuit boards stacked in parallel a fixed distance apart, where the connectors are mounted to the boards, in a manner permitting disassembly of the boards.
