Hybrid Beam And Stanchion Incorporating Hybrid Beam

View page
US Patent:
7634891, Dec 22, 2009
Filed:
Sep 9, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/223454
Inventors:
Jerome P. Fanucci - Lexington MA, US
Michael McAleenan - Georgetown ME, US
Thomas Heimann - Bedford MA, US
Kirk E. Survilas - Peabody MA, US
Assignee:
Kazak Composites, Inc. - Woburn MA
International Classification:
E04C 3/00
US Classification:
52843, 52839, 52841, 52834
Abstract:
A hybrid metal/composite material beam is suitable for withstanding bending stresses. The hybrid beam is a combination of dissimilar materials that are geometrically optimized in a structure to provide benefits beyond the characteristics of the materials separately. Also a stanchion assembly incorporates the hybrid beam.

Foundation Adapter System

View page
US Patent:
8172195, May 8, 2012
Filed:
Sep 23, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/948599
Inventors:
Jerome P. Fanucci - Lexington MA, US
Michael McAleenan - Georgetown ME, US
Andrew F. Paddock - Billerica MA, US
Kirk E. Survilas - Peabody MA, US
Assignee:
KaZaK Composites, Incorporated - Woburn MA
International Classification:
F16M 11/20
US Classification:
248647, 248429
Abstract:
A tiedown system foundation adapter system provides greater flexibility in spotting equipment on a support surface. An adapter module includes a plate assembly that drops into a slotted track system and is slid along the track system until it fits into an attachment point that restrains the plate assembly from vertical pullout and motion transverse to the track. The plate assembly is then locked into position to restrain it from further translation along the track. An equipment fitting is translatably mounted with respect to the upper surface and attaches to a complementary attachment fitting on the bottom of a piece of equipment. By locating a number of modules in desired locations along the tracks and locating the equipment fitting in each module, a piece of equipment can be oriented in virtually any position and location in the space to be furnished. A deck system for a flush floor is also provided.

Device For Transferring A Load From An Object To A Load-Bearing Element

View page
US Patent:
20100123108, May 20, 2010
Filed:
Nov 16, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/619274
Inventors:
Woodrow W. Holley - Malden MA, US
Andrew Paddock - Nashua NH, US
Jerome P. Fanucci - Lexington MA, US
Michael McAleenan - Georgetown ME, US
Kirk E. Survilas - Peabody MA, US
International Classification:
B66F 3/08
US Classification:
254 98
Abstract:
A device for transmitting a load from an object to a load-bearing element is provided. The device includes an attachment mechanism for attaching to a load-bearing element, such as a vertical stanchion. A loading mechanism includes a pressure block and a mechanism interconnecting the pressure block and the attachment mechanism. The loading mechanism can apply a preload to an object and transmit a force from the object to the load-bearing element.

Stanchion Assembly

View page
US Patent:
7337737, Mar 4, 2008
Filed:
Jun 13, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/452132
Inventors:
Jerome P. Fanucci - Lexington MA, US
Michael McAleenan - Georgetown ME, US
Kirk E. Survilas - Peabody MA, US
Assignee:
Kazak Composites, Incorporated - Woburn MA
International Classification:
B63B 25/08
US Classification:
114 75, 410149
Abstract:
A stanchion assembly is provided for retaining cargo in a hold from lateral motion, the hold having a deck grid fitting assembly and a ceiling grid fitting assembly. The stanchion assembly includes an elongated beam with a box cross section of two parallel webs and two parallel flanges. The beam is an extrusion of an aluminum or aluminum alloy. The assembly includes upper and lower end caps on the ends of the beam. A spring assembly within the elongated box beam retains the beam in a vertical position within the corresponding fitting on the grid assembly on the deck and the ceiling. The stanchion assembly has a weight no greater than 67 pounds. The stanchion assembly has a length L in the longitudinal direction from a lower end cap to an upper end cap when the spring assembly is uncompressed. The beam has a stiffness capable of resisting a design load applied to one of the webs normal to the longitudinal direction with a deflection no greater than L/90.
