Anti-Dart Snowmobile Ski

View page
US Patent:
7090229, Aug 15, 2006
Filed:
Jul 6, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/885496
Inventors:
Edwin A. Monsrud - Roseau MN, US
Robert W. Przekwas - Roseau MN, US
Arlyn T. Saagge - Roseau MN, US
Keith W. Peppel - Roseau MN, US
Assignee:
Polaris Industries Inc. - Medina MN
International Classification:
A63C 5/044
US Classification:
280 28
Abstract:
An anti-darting ski for snowmobiles, the ski including a longitudinally extending runner with a central keel. A generally flat wear strip with two skags is attached to the bottom of the keel. The wear strip is contoured to match the bottom surface of the keel. The skags are laterally spaced beneath the wear strip such that their inside surfaces do not extend towards each other. The skags and wear strip may be mounted flush with the outside edges of the keel. The skags may also be located asymmetrically about a longitudinal center point of the ski. The dual skag system acts to minimize darting of the snowmobile in the snow.

US Patent:
7147074, Dec 12, 2006
Filed:
Feb 18, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/782506
Inventors:
Norman O. Berg - Roseau MN, US
Keith W. Peppel - Roseau MN, US
Edwin M. Monsrud - Roseau MN, US
Assignee:
Polaris Industries Inc. - Medina MN
International Classification:
B62M 27/02
US Classification:
180190, 180186
Abstract:
A snowmobile including a chassis, shell, and an engine. The shell may be fixed to a front portion of the chassis and extend away from the chassis in a forward direction. The shell may be disposed forward of the steering axis. The shell may define a chamber that fluidly communicates with the engine via a flexible coupling interposed between the shell and the engine.

US Patent:
7401674, Jul 22, 2008
Filed:
Sep 18, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/522571
Inventors:
Norman O Berg - Roseau MN, US
Keith W Peppel - Roseau MN, US
Edwin M Monsrud - Roseau MN, US
Assignee:
Polaris Industries Inc. - Medina MN
International Classification:
B62M 27/02
US Classification:
180190, 180186
Abstract:
A snowmobile includes a seat having a rear end with a rear end face. The rear end face is inclined upwardly and rearwardly from an upper surface of a tunnel of a frame so that a cavity is defined beneath the seat between the inclined rear end face of the seat and the upper surface of the tunnel.

Evacuation Slide With Leading Edge Spoiler

View page
US Patent:
20040118979, Jun 24, 2004
Filed:
Dec 19, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/324713
Inventors:
Ramon Moro - Gilbert AZ, US
Norman Berg - Roseau MN, US
Keith Peppel - Roseau MN, US
Richard Bates Jr - Badger MN, US
Edwin Monsrud - Roseau MN, US
Assignee:
GOODRICH CORPORATION - Charlotte NC
International Classification:
B64D001/08
B64C001/22
US Classification:
244/137200
Abstract:
An inflatable evacuation slide is presented that includes an aerodynamic spoiler to kill the lift caused by air flowing laterally over the slide. The slide preferably comprises a fabric sliding surface stretched between two longitudinal main side members. The spoiler comprises a fabric panel, supported by a plurality of fabric gussets, that extends outward from each of the main side members. When the main side member of the slide is exposed to a lateral wind load, the spoiler creates a flow separation that kills the lift generated by the airflow. By killing the lift induced by the airflow over the top of the inflatable evacuation slide, zero or negative lift is generated by the airflow over the inflatable evacuation slide, which causes the slide to deploy downward firmly contacting the ground even in high wind conditions.

Non-Pneumatic Tire

US Patent:
20130240272, Sep 19, 2013
Filed:
Mar 13, 2013
Appl. No.:
13/802474
Inventors:
Jeffrey D. Bennett - Roseau MN, US
Louis J. Brady - Wyoming MN, US
Eric J. Borud - Roseau MN, US
David J. Koenig - Wyoming MN, US
Keith W. Peppel - Roseau MN, US
James A. Holroyd - Stillwater MN, US
Aaron J. Nysse - Stacy MN, US
David W. Jubie - Roseau MN, US
Assignee:
POLARIS INDUSTRIES INC. - MEDINA MN
International Classification:
B60B 9/00
US Classification:
180 541, 152 1
Abstract:
A non-pneumatic tire is disclosed where a resilient wheel is mounted on a rim and the wheel has an inner ring, an outer ring and a plurality of flexible webs interconnected between the inner and outer rings. The flexible webs define openings in through the resilient wheel. The stiffness of the inner wheel at a position adjacent to the inner face is different than the stiffness of the inner wheel at a position adjacent to the outer face. This stiffness difference can be accomplished by providing inflated membranes in at least some of the openings or by molding the wheel with an asymmetric parting line. In addition, the wheels could be dynamically controlled by providing magnetically actuable membranes in some of the openings.
