Filed:
Apr 2, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/824461
Inventors:
Stephan James McLain - Wilmington DE
Elizabeth Forrester McCord - Hockessin DE
Alison Margaret Anne Bennett - Wilmington DE
Steven Dale Ittel - Wilmington DE
Karl Jeffrey Sweetman - Wilmington DE
Mark F. Teasley - Landenberg PA
Assignee:
E. I. du Pont de Nemours and Company - Wilmington DE
International Classification:
C08F 442
US Classification:
526161, 526308, 5261691, 526217, 526236, 526133, 526141, 502200, 502229
Abstract:
Substituted cyclopentenes, such as alkyl cyclopentenes, are polymerized by selected -imine complexes of nickel and palladium. The polymers are useful as molding resins or elastomers. Also disclosed herein are novel catalysts for the polymerization of cyclopentenes to form novel higher melting homopolycyclopentenes.

Olefin Polymerization Process

US Patent:
6780949, Aug 24, 2004
Filed:
Nov 15, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/295319
Inventors:
Lynda Kaye Johnson - Wilmington DE
Stephan J. Mclain - Wilmington DE
Karl J. Sweetman - Wilmington DE
Assignee:
E. I. du Pont de Nemours and Company - Wilmington DE
International Classification:
C08F 426
US Classification:
526172, 526126, 502158, 502171, 502167
Abstract:
Olefin polymerizations employing a complex of a Group 8, 9, or 10 transition metal with a bidentate ligand as part of the polymerization catalyst system are improved by adding to the polymerization a silicon compound in which at least one atom of a Group 15 or 16 element is bound to a silicon atom. The polymerizations often have increased polymer productivity and/or the polymerization catalyst has a longer half life.

US Patent:
7348388, Mar 25, 2008
Filed:
Nov 15, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/295606
Inventors:
Steven Dale Ittel - Wilmington DE, US
Lynda Kaye Johnson - Wilmington DE, US
Lin Wang - Hockessin DE, US
Ying Wang - Wilmington DE, US
Elizabeth Forrester McCord - Hockessin DE, US
Catherine E. Radzewich - Wilmington DE, US
Stephan J. Mclain - Wilmington DE, US
Karl J. Sweetman - Wilmington DE, US
Alison Margaret Anne Bennett - Wilmington DE, US
Alex Sergey Ionkin - Kennet Square PA, US
Rinaldo S. Schiffino - Wilmington DE, US
Assignee:
E.I. du Pont de Nemours and Company - Wilmington DE
International Classification:
C08G 30/08
US Classification:
526279, 526242
Abstract:
Ethylene and allyl- or vinylsilanes are efficiently copolymerized by certain late transition metal complexes containing selected bidentate or tridentate ligands. The resulting novel polymers may be crosslinked by moisture when vinylsilane contains groups bound to silicon which are hydrolyzable. The polymers are useful for wire coating, crosslinked foams, pipes, and other uses.
