View page
US Patent:
7077236, Jul 18, 2006
Filed:
Dec 31, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/750431
Inventors:
Pawel W. Sleboda - Bloomfield Hills MI, US
Richard D. George - Rochester Hills MI, US
Justin Putti - Rochester Hills MI, US
Assignee:
Lear Corporation - Southfield MI
International Classification:
H05K 5/02
H04B 1/03
H04R 5/02
H04R 1/02
US Classification:
181150, 381389, 381302, 381387, 381 86
Abstract:
An articulating speaker assembly for the interior of a motor vehicle, which includes sidewall trim defining a pocket in the trim, includes a housing and at least one speaker operatively supported within the housing. The assembly includes at least one pivot arm having first and second ends. The first end is operatively connected to the housing and defines a rotational axis, and the second end is attached to the vehicle and defines a pivotal axis. The at least one pivot arm is adapted to pivot about the pivotal axis to selectively move and position the housing at each point along a path between a retracted position wherein said housing is operatively supported within the pocket and aligned substantially flush with the sidewall trim such that the sidewall trim and the housing are substantially co-planar in the retracted position of the housing, and an extended position outside the pocket. The housing is adapted to rotate about the rotational axis such that the at least one speaker can be moved to a plurality of positions to selectively direct sound therefrom.

US Patent:
7218745, May 15, 2007
Filed:
Dec 23, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/327824
Inventors:
John E. McConnell - Ann Arbor MI, US
Justin Putti - Rochester Hills MI, US
Assignee:
Lear Corporation - Southfield MI
International Classification:
H04R 1/02
US Classification:
381302, 381152, 381389
Abstract:
A vehicle headliner includes electromagnetic drivers for sonically driving a member or a layer of the headliner. A foam beam is shaped around a driver transducer connection area that holds one or more driver connectors. A cover may be maintained over the shaped foam beam to protect against entry of dust and other debris into the driver and the transducer connection area that receives the driver.

View page
US Patent:
7536019, May 19, 2009
Filed:
Dec 22, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/745347
Inventors:
Justin Putti - Rochester Hills MI, US
David Prince - Villa Park IL, US
Robert True - Pleasant Prairie WI, US
Assignee:
Lear Corporation - Southfield MI

H04B 1/00
US Classification:
381 86, 381 2
Abstract:
An audio system for use in a passenger compartment of a vehicle. The system includes a front-driver side speaker unit and a front-passenger side speaker unit to cooperatively emit audio sound to the passenger compartment. The driver-side speaker unit includes a primary speaker and a secondary speaker to produce sound in cooperation with a primary speaker and a secondary speaker of the passenger-side speaker unit. An audio control system is configured to compensate for unbalancing of stereo images at front-driver/passenger positions by controlling output from the secondary speakers based on output from the primary speakers.

View page
US Patent:
6899381, May 31, 2005
Filed:
Dec 30, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/748595
Inventors:
Mark W. Fero - Clinton Township MI, US
David J. Prince - Villa Park IL, US
