422 57, 422 58, 422 681, 422102, 4352887
Abstract:
Devices for the non-invasive collection of a liquid sample in small quantities, such as urine for testing hydration in infants and incontinent adults, directly at the source of that sample, isolation of the collected sample from a testing site, the transportation of that sample to a site for testing contained within the device itself, and the selective application of some or all of the specimen to a testing apparatus contained within the device itself, with a minimum of specimen handling required. Other aspects include a method and device for facilitating the reading of the result of the specimen test by a skilled or unskilled user, including means for determining that no adequate sample has been delivered to the testing site.

Effort-Independent, Portable, User-Operated Capnograph Devices And Related Methods

View page
US Patent:
20090118632, May 7, 2009
Filed:
Nov 5, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/265574
Inventors:
Julius G. Goepp - Rochester NY, US
International Classification:
A61B 5/08
US Classification:
600532
Abstract:
An effort-independent, portable, user-operated capnograph device for evaluating a pulmonary status of a user. At least one baseline measurement is stored within a memory of the capnograph device. The identity of a user of the capnograph device is verified to prevent miss-use. Concentrations of carbon dioxide (CO2) exhaled by the user when breathing normally are sensed and stored within the memory. The stored data is compared with the at least one of the baseline measurements to determine the pulmonary status of the user, and the determined pulmonary status is indicated to the user.

Method And Apparatus For The Detection Of A Bone Fracture

View page
US Patent:
20070043290, Feb 22, 2007
Filed:
Aug 1, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/496952
Inventors:
Julius Goepp - Rochester NY, US
Zachary Hoyt - Rochester NY, US
International Classification:
A61B 8/00
US Classification:
600437000
Abstract:
Disclosed in this specification is a device configured to detect fractures in a bone by reflecting waves off of the bone. Certain parameters of the reflected wave are compared to a threshold condition. When the threshold condition is met, a first indication is generated. When the threshold condition is not met, a second indication is generated. This device allows detection of bone fractures without requiring that the user of the device be skilled in image interpretation (e.g. interpreting x-ray or ultrasound images).

Systems And Methods For Altering Microbiome To Reduce Disease Risk And Manifestations Of Disease

View page
US Patent:
20190256583, Aug 22, 2019
Filed:
Jan 22, 2019
Appl. No.:
16/253392
Inventors:
- Hagerstown MD, US
Julius G. GOEPP - Hagerstown MD, US
International Classification:
C07K 16/12
A61K 35/741
A61P 1/00
Abstract:
The present invention relates to the microbiomes of humans and other animals as biomarkers and therapeutic targets for regulation or altering of a microbiome profile associated with states of disease or disease risk, using additive and subtractive therapies aimed at restoring a microbiome profile associated with health, with reduced manifestations of disease, or with reduced disease risk. In particular, the invention provides methods of subtractive therapy using microorganism-specific avian egg yolk-derived immunoglobulins (IgY) in a fashion that titrates, without necessarily eliminating, populations of microorganisms known to be associated with human gut and extraintestinal diseases.
