International Classification:
C02F 128
US Classification:
210282, 210288
Abstract:
The invention is directed to purification of liquids, such as drinking water using filters, wherein filtration is effected while the liquid flows upwardly. The invention includes both the method and a device enabling the method to be carried out. The device is constructed to intake impure liquid at the bottom of the filter and initially to effect flow by filling liquid to above the filter outlet near the top, and maintaining flow thereafter by virtue of the presence of a low internal pressure that develops as the liquid passes through the system.

View page
US Patent:
20110000841, Jan 6, 2011
Filed:
Mar 2, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/920369
Inventors:
Gleb Dmitrievich Rusinov - Saint Petersburg, RU
Alexey Leonidovich Kuzmin - Saint Petersburg, RU
Alexander Ivanovich Andreev - Saint Petersburg, RU
Joseph Lvovich Shmidt - New York NY, US
Vitaliy Stephanovich Samko - Saint Petersburg, RU
Pavel Alexandrovich Hubov - Saint Petersburg, RU
International Classification:
B01D 24/02
B28B 7/14
US Classification:
210282, 264163
Abstract:
The group of inventions relates to liquid purifying devices and can be used for purifying drinking water and other liquids for household, medical and other purposes. A filter cartridge is filled with a filtering material and is configured in the form of an open bowl which can be closed with a lid, having side walls and a bottom with at least one outlet opening which is closed with a water-permeable material, wherein the cartridge bottom is designed such as to make it possible to use the water-permeable material which comes to the external edge of the side walls and is made of fibers with a sufficiently small diameter to allow using the filtering material containing powder particles; furthermore, the entire area between external and internal edges of the walls along the perimeter of the bottom is made of a composite based on a polymer water-permeable material. The method of producing the filtering cartridge involves placing a blank in at least a split mould, cutting it to the exact shape of a piece, filling a shaping cavity of the mould with a molted polymer material and extracting the product from the mould, wherein the cavity of the mould is filled with the molted polymer material upon placing the blank therein and the blank is cut up along a cutting zone which is formed in the purpose-made region of the mould. The filtering cartridge is used in a device for purifying liquid, substantially drinking water.

The inventions relate to means for purifying water, primarily drinking water, and can be used in domestic water purification systems. The claimed filtered water storage unit for the storage device of a water purification system comprises a housing, an elastic chamber disposed therein for filtered water, and a region for pressurizing untreated water, which is defined between the wall of the chamber and the wall of the housing. The elastic chamber is made of a modified biaxially oriented thermoplastic elastomer and consists of a chamber body and neck, formed as a single piece, the neck being rigidly secured in the housing. The water purification system comprises a reverse osmosis membrane, a clean water discharge pipe, an overflow into a drain, a clean water tap, and a storage device comprising a filtered water storage unit and a hydro-automatic unit. In a first embodiment of a system with a storage device, the outlet of the controlled chamber of a valve for controlling pressurization of the water is associated with the water pressurizing region in the housing of the water storage unit, and the input of the controlling chamber of a valve for controlling drainage is associated with the clean water discharge pipe upstream of the tap, wherein the valve for controlling pressurization of the water is normally open and the valve for controlling drainage is normally closed. The claimed water purification system is highly reliable and provides a high quality of purified water.
