View page
US Patent:
50540556, Oct 1, 1991
Filed:
Apr 26, 1990
Appl. No.:
7/515027
Inventors:
John P. Hanle - Silver Spring MD
James E. Curry - Herndon VA
Assignee:
Bell Atlantic Network Services, Inc. - Arlington VA
International Classification:
H04M 1100
H04M 121
H04M 157
US Classification:
379142
Abstract:
A method and system is disclosed for interfacing Individual Calling Line Identification (ICLID) information in a telephone system with a computer at a subscriber telephone location. The data component of the received multiplexed ringing signal is extracted and stored in the internal memory of the computer. The ICLID data can be instantly displayed on the computer monitor or processed by the computer to generate related information which may be displayed on the computer monitor. The ICLID number can be transferred to the keyboard buffer to actuate a program to generate a disk lookup and populate fields on the monitor screen whereby the phone call is used drive the application by the ICLID data.

Method Of And System For Control Of Special Services By Remote Access

View page
US Patent:
50125117, Apr 30, 1991
Filed:
Apr 6, 1990
Appl. No.:
7/505386
Inventors:
John P. Hanle - Silver Spring MD
James E. Curry - Herndon VA
Assignee:
Bell Atlantic Network Services, Inc. - Arlington VA
International Classification:
H04M 354
US Classification:
379211
Abstract:
Disclosed is a method and apparatus for effecting remote access to special services in telephone networks described particularly with respect to call forwarding. An adjunct computer is associated with a Remote Memory Administration System (RMAS) for switches which include a facility for providing special services such as call forwarding. The adjunct computer is inserted between the RMAS and the switches which it controls. The adjunct includes a processor responsive to subscriber identification and stored class of service information to recognize that call forwarding service is to be provided to an identified subscriber station. The processor receives requests for special service via a multiline hunt group associated with a Remote Access Directory Number (RADN) conneted to a voice response unit which feeds request signals to the processor and voice prompt to the caller. The processor determines the identity of the subscriber station which is to receive the requested service and the nature of the service and generates a programming signal and formats the signal for compatibility with the switch to which the station is connected. The processor also transmits to the switch recent change programming signals originating in the RAMS as well as the programming signals to effectuate call forwarding.

US Patent:
55861717, Dec 17, 1996
Filed:
Jul 7, 1994
Appl. No.:
8/271884
Inventors:
Alex McAllister - Wheaton MD
Frank Cheston - Potomac MD
David E. Young - Silver Spring MD
John P. Hanle - Silver Spring MD
Assignee:
Bell Atlantic Network Services, Inc. - Arlington VA
International Classification:
A61B 504
H04M 1106
US Classification:
379 67
Abstract:
In a switching system for connecting a call between a calling station and a called station, a system and method of voice recognition using a concentrated or distributed multiplicity of voice recognition and other resources with a facility for selecting an initial resource on the calling station going off-hook by sensing an image of the calling party accessing a demographic database and a biometric database using common channel signaling and sensing biometric information regarding the caller, and selecting a prompt to be delivered to the caller from a multiplicity of preselected prompts, and reacting to a response by the caller with further addressing of database information to continue to select from the multiplicity of resources the most appropriate resource or resources in reaction to caller utterances. According to another feature the selection of resources is aided by optical means at the calling station delivering information regarding characteristics of the caller including lip movement to permit lip reading.
