Non-Collaborative Mechanisms For Enhanced Coexistence Of Wireless Networks

View page
US Patent:
7035275, Apr 25, 2006
Filed:
Dec 20, 2001
Appl. No.:
10/026317
Inventors:
Jie Liang - Plano TX, US
Assignee:
Texas Instruments Incorporated - Dallas TX
International Classification:
H04J 4/00
US Classification:
370436, 370330, 370252, 370478
Abstract:
When wireless communications systems are operating in the same general area, collisions between their transmissions are bound to occur. The collisions reduce the performance in the networks. In some wireless communications systems that use a fixed or prespecified transmission frequency pattern, a look-ahead technique that investigates the quality of the communications channel at the upcoming transmission frequencies can be used to allow or disallow transmissions. Additionally, a maximum length of a transmission can be determined based on the quality of the transmission frequency. Finally, if the communications system is controlled by a centralized controller, moving the controller away from sources of interference will often improve performance.

Collaborative Mechanism Of Enhanced Coexistence Of Collocated Wireless Networks

View page
US Patent:
7099671, Aug 29, 2006
Filed:
Oct 21, 2001
Appl. No.:
10/011221
Inventors:
Jie Liang - Plano TX, US
Assignee:
Texas Instruments Incorporated - Dallas TX
International Classification:
H04Q 7/20
US Classification:
455450, 455451, 4554521, 4554522, 455454
Abstract:
A digital device with a plurality of collocated wireless networks encounters inter-network interference if the collocated wireless networks operate in a common operating frequency. A coordinator unit , coupled to the plurality of wireless networks, provides a transmission reservation system wherein a wireless network with a need to transmit can request and receive a reservation for time to transmit. The coordinator unit provides a way to schedule transmissions from the plurality of wireless networks and to reduce the probability of collisions.

Texas Instruments Incorporated - Dallas TX
International Classification:
G06K 9/46
US Classification:
382240, 382232, 382248
Abstract:
An image coding method using wavelet decomposition and coding clusters of four-children coefficients bitplane-wise including value-bits for significance and refinement, and tree-bits for tree structure significance.

Method And System For Providing Low Power Wlan Receiver

View page
US Patent:
7245674, Jul 17, 2007
Filed:
Nov 28, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/724376
Inventors:
Jie Liang - Plano TX, US
Assignee:
Texas Instruments Incorporated - Dallas TX
International Classification:
H03D 1/00
H04L 27/06
US Classification:
375340, 375338, 375346, 455 6711, 455 6713
Abstract:
A method and system for conserving power in a WLAN receiver is provided by a channel estimator for detecting transmitted errors in a transmitted packet and providing equalization for the detected channel errors; a separate pilot processor for detecting off set errors from the channel estimation and providing off set correction to said equalization for the whole data portion of the packet after the preamble and a control response to the start of each packet for enabling said channel estimator during the preamble and thereafter disabling said channel estimator for the remainder of the packet and storing the estimated value.

Receiver Directed Power Management For Wlan Receiver

US Patent:
7257112, Aug 14, 2007
Filed:
Nov 28, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/724494
Inventors:
Jie Liang - Plano TX, US
Assignee:
Texas Instruments Incorporated - Dallas TX
International Classification:
H04L 12/66
H04B 1/38
US Classification:
370352, 370338, 370474, 4551611, 455574, 4553432
Abstract:
A method of conserving power in a WLAN receiver is provided wherein processing tasks that need only to be operated for a brief period of time during the reception of a received packet are enabled only during the brief period of time. The enabling includes providing multiple power control signals that are controlled by a state machine for enabling and disabling the processing tasks.

Robust Indication Of Mac Level Error Correction

View page
US Patent:
7277432, Oct 2, 2007
Filed:
Mar 13, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/387738
Inventors:
Jie Liang - Plano TX, US
Matthew B. Shoemake - Allen TX, US
Lior Ophir - Herzlia, IL
Assignee:
Texas Instruments Incorporated - Dallas TX
International Classification:
H04L 12/56
H03M 13/00
US Classification:
370389, 370469, 714752
Abstract:
In digital communications that utilize a data packet format wherein each data packet includes a physical layer (PHY) component and a media access control layer (MAC) component, the media access control layer component can be selectively protected by forward error correction (FEC). The receiving end receives an indication as to whether FEC has been applied, and makes an FEC decision based (12-15) on this indication. The accuracy of the received-side FEC decision and the robustness of the FEC indication can be improved by: making the FEC decision based on the results of FEC decoding applied to a media access control layer header within the media access control layer component; providing an FEC indication bit in the physical layer component; and using a plurality of bits to encode the FEC indication in either the physical layer component or the media access control layer component.
