Wheel Component With Cavity For Mounting A Housing For Measurement Apparatus

View page
US Patent:
6357833, Mar 19, 2002
Filed:
Jul 12, 1999
Appl. No.:
09/351002
Inventors:
Jacques Jack Bajer - Grosse Pointe MI
Assignee:
Smartire Systems, Inc. - Vancouver
International Classification:
B60B 2100
US Classification:
301 95, 1523816, 340442
Abstract:
A wheel component and a method for installing a measurement circuit in a wheel component are disclosed. The wheel component has a surface and a sunken cavity extending below the surface in the wheel component, for holding an insertable housing. The housing may hold an electronic circuit operable to measure a physical property and transmit a measured value to a receiver. The method for installing includes receiving a housing containing the measurement circuit into a sunken cavity in a surface of the wheel component and securing the housing in the sunken cavity.

Tire Casing Preparation Method

US Patent:
44901976, Dec 25, 1984
Filed:
Aug 22, 1983
Appl. No.:
6/524927
Inventors:
Jacques J. Bajer - Grosse Pointe MI
International Classification:
B29H 1736
B29H 306
G01B 500
US Classification:
156 64
Abstract:
A tire casing preparation system including a transfer machine and associated with a plurality of work stations for performing a variety of operations on worn tire casings such as de-treading, contouring, surface conditioning, dimensional gauging, defect detection and adhesive treatment. The transfer machine includes a turntable having a plurality of chucking and rotating mechanisms for mounting and processing tire casings as they are moved from one work station to another. A tire casing is first transported to a de-treading station where it undergoes a rough machining or de-treading operation for forming a curvilinear surface on the upper outer periphery of the tire casing. The tire casing is then transported to a contouring work station where a semi-rough machining operation is performed to form an arcuate outer peripheral surface. Following the completion of the semi-rough machining operation, the tire casing is moved to a finishing and surface conditioning work station for finishing the machined contoured tire casing, and conditioning its outer machined surface area. Provision is also made for dimensionally gauging the finished machined tire casing and detecting any defects that may exist.

US Patent:
50524585, Oct 1, 1991
Filed:
Jan 18, 1990
Appl. No.:
7/467382
Inventors:
Jacques J. Bajer - Grosse Pointe MI
Assignee:
DICO Tire, Inc. - Clinton TN
International Classification:
B60C 918
B60C 912
US Classification:
152532
Abstract:
An improved tire such as a radial ply tire of the type including a radial carcass body ply or plies, side walls and a tread and further including at least one cordless belt assembly positioned and aligned on the outer or inner circumference of the radial carcass body ply or plies, or positioned on both sides of the radial carcass body ply or plies, including between the radial carcass and the tread, each cordless belt assembly consisting essentially of plural parallel, discontinuous, oriented fibers embedded in an elastomeric material, the fibers being oriented parallel to each other, the tire characterized by the absence of circumferential peripheral cords or other cords for restricting the periphery of the tire carcass against outward expansion, and the absence of corded belts on the shoulder of the radial carcass body ply or plies.
