Flexible Through-Connection Process In A Mobile Switch Center When Multiple Outgoing Call Legs Involved

View page
US Patent:
7649862, Jan 19, 2010
Filed:
May 19, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/132511
Inventors:
Julian Maurico Guio - Glen Ellyn IL, US
Jason T. Kuo - Naperville IL, US
Ismael Lopez - Berwyn IL, US
Huixian Song - Naperville IL, US
Assignee:
Alcatel-Lucent USA Inc. - Murray Hill NJ
International Classification:
H04Q 7/00
US Classification:
370329, 455453, 455428, 455427, 4554261, 455 121, 455512, 455445, 379222, 379229, 379279, 379280, 370337, 370311, 712203, 712233, 712 25, 712 35
Abstract:
The flexible through-connection process, operational in a Mobile Switch Center, that provides support for allowing the call routing processor of the Mobile Switch Center to independently perform a through-connection/switch-connection based on different types of calls so that the Mobile Switch Center can make a through-connection at different stages of the outgoing call leg. In operation, the present flexible through-connection process includes in the call control processor of the switching system a new parameter in the existing inter-process message which is sent to the call routing processor at call setup time. The values supported for this new parameter will be pre-defined in the Mobile Switch Center and used by the call routing processor to determine when to perform through-connection/switch-connection for an outgoing call leg. When the call routing processor routs the call out and the outgoing call is at the stage, in which the value of the parameter received is defined for, it performs a through-connection operation. Additionally this flexible through-connection process automatically disconnects the other call leg, i. e.

US Patent:
20020076021, Jun 20, 2002
Filed:
Dec 18, 2000
Appl. No.:
09/739567
Inventors:
Ismael Lopez - Berwyn IL, US
Lei Qian - Naperville IL, US
International Classification:
H04M001/64
H04M015/06
H04M005/00
US Classification:
379/142010, 379/088200, 379/088210, 379/245000, 379/247000
Abstract:
This is a service which can be offered by a telephone service provider to enable a caller ID subscriber to now positively determine the identity of a member of a defined group regardless of the phone number from which the call is made. The subscriber-defined group can have a maximum of ten members with assigned numbers from 0 to 9. Specifically, the subscriber can assign a number, i.e., the number 1 to a person such as his/her mother. Now, when the subscriber's mother calls the subscriber, the number of the phone from which the call is made will appear as the caller ID number plus the number 1. Thus, regardless of the phone from which the call is made, be it from a pay phone or a friend's phone, the number 1 will identify the caller as being the subscriber's mother. In another embodiment, a name can be used in place of the number and, therefore, the name Mom can appear instead of the number 1.

Handling Specialized Resource Functions Associated With Wireless Intelligent Network In Mobile Switch Center

View page
US Patent:
20040174837, Sep 9, 2004
Filed:
Mar 7, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/383271
Inventors:
Yi Zhou - Lisle IL, US
Jean Chang - Ames IA, US
Frances Chin - Naperville IL, US

US Classification:
370/328000
Abstract:
The invention implements specialized resource functions (SRFs) associated with wireless intelligent network (WIN) in a mobile switch center (MSC) of a wireless network. In one aspect, the invention provides a method for handling SRFs associated with WIN in an MSC of a wireless network. In another embodiment of the method, the invention provides a method for handling SRFs in an MSC of a wireless network, wherein the wireless network includes the MSC and a service control point (SCP) in communication with the MSC. In still another aspect, the invention provides an MSC for a wireless network that includes: a switch service function (SSF) process, an SRF process, an SSF/SRF interface, and an SCP interface.

Collect Calling Party Identification

View page
US Patent:
20040202298, Oct 14, 2004
Filed:
Dec 19, 2000
Appl. No.:
09/740466
Inventors:
Ismael Lopez - Berwyn IL, US
Lei Qian - Naperville IL, US
International Classification:
H04M011/00
H04M003/00
H04M005/00
US Classification:
379/142010, 379/245000, 379/247000, 379/093170, 379/093230
Abstract:
The collect call party identification service disclosed enables a service provider to identify a person who makes an assistance-free collect call and to transmit the caller's identity on the called phone regardless of the phone number from which the call is made and before any charges are incurred. The service provider, in a database controlled by the service provider, lists and identifies each person in a defined group with a personal identification number such as his/her phone number, social security number or the like. The Collect Calling Party Identification service is invoked by using a prefix such as *99. A person listed in the service provider's database and having been assigned a personal identification number can make a collect call without the assistance of an operator by dialing *99 plus his/her personal identification number. Upon confirmation from the database that the caller is listed in the database, the caller making the collect call then inputs the number that he/she is attempting to reach. When the call is received by the called party, the identification of the person making the collect call is displayed on the receiving telephone for viewing by the called person before any charges are incurred. Thus, the called party can identify the calling party regardless of the location of the calling phone prior to deciding whether or not to answer the phone.

Apparatus, Method And System For Message-Based Intelligent Tandeming Of Incoming Calls To Application Nodes In Telecommunication Systems

View page
US Patent:
6956939, Oct 18, 2005
Filed:
Jun 9, 2000
Appl. No.:
09/591472
Inventors:
Richard Robert Boland - LaGrange IL, US
Ismael Lopez - Berwyn IL, US
Mark Alan McCormick - Naperville IL, US
Diane Marie Russell - Naperville IL, US
Assignee:
Lucent Technologies Inc. - Murray Hill NJ
International Classification:
H04M007/00
US Classification:
37922001, 37922101, 37922114
Abstract:
An apparatus, method and system are provided for message-based intelligent tandeming of an incoming call to an application node in telecommunication systems. The various embodiments utilize a new parameter, referred to as a tandem parameter, to designate whether incoming calls to a particular subscriber are to be tandemed to an application node or are to be delivered directly to the subscriber. The preferred system embodiment includes an adjunct network entity, a database, and a switching center. The adjunct network entity, such as a service circuit node or service control point, has one or more application nodes or platforms, supporting various telecommunication services such as prepaid services, calling party pays services, and one number services. The database, such as a home location register or visitor location register, stores information such as subscriber profiles, and includes storing the tandem parameter. The switching center, such as a mobile switching center, is configured to receive an incoming call leg directed to a called party directory number, to transmit a first message to the database to determine call treatment instructions, and to receive from the database a second message containing a tandem parameter.
