Process And Apparatus For Sealing Freezer Enclosures From Moisture And Contamination

View page
US Patent:
20040197472, Oct 7, 2004
Filed:
Nov 21, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/719681
Inventors:
Harry Scofield - Northfield MN, US
James Ehret - Norwalk OH, US
Michael Brodziak - Northfield MN, US
David Brown - Oak Ridge TN, US
International Classification:
B05D007/22
B05C011/11
US Classification:
427/237000, 312/404000, 156/060000, 118/504000
Abstract:
A protective coating and a method for applying the protective coating to a wall of a freezer enclosure includes applying a screen to the wall wherein the screen includes a plurality of intersecting elements forming a plurality of openings. One or more coatings of a polymer are then applied to the screen in a sufficient quantity to coat the screen and permeate the plurality of openings through to the wall. The polymer is then allowed to solidify or cure thereby creating a temperature, abrasion and chemical resistant protective coating on or within the freezer enclosure.

Environmentally-Controlled Food Container Having Fracture Resistant Seams

View page
US Patent:
20050092757, May 5, 2005
Filed:
Nov 4, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/701380
Inventors:
James Ehret - Norwalk OH, US
Harry Scofield - Northfield MN, US
Michael Brodziak - Northfield MN, US
International Classification:
B65D006/28
B65D008/04
B65D008/06
US Classification:
220612000
Abstract:
An environmentally-controlled food container, such as a refrigerator, freezer or oven, includes a plurality of walls joined at their edges and joints between adjacent walls. The joints are covered by a seaming tape which includes a plastic film layer and a mesh layer. The mesh layer is formed from a material having a coefficient of thermal expansion within 10% of a coefficient of thermal expansion of adjacent wall material. The seaming prevents moisture and bacteria from entering the joints, and does not fracture due to thermal expansion and contraction of the walls.
