Metal Back Prosthetic Glenoid Component With Cemented Pegs And Hollow Metal Cage Screw

View page
US Patent:
7204854, Apr 17, 2007
Filed:
Aug 13, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/639520
Inventors:
Gregory Guederian - Naples FL, US
Peter Habermeyer - Stuttgart, DE
Assignee:
Arthrex, Inc. - Naples FL
International Classification:
A61F 2/40
US Classification:
623 1911, 623908
Abstract:
A prosthetic glenoid component for attachment to a glenoid surface of a scapula to replace a natural socket of a shoulder and to provide a bearing surface for a head portion of an arm bone or humerus. The glenoid component has a metal back with integrally formed attachment legs which are cemented into corresponding holes formed in the glenoid surface, and also has an opening for receiving a hollow metal cage which is screwed into the glenoid surface.

Ligament Fixation Using Graft Harness

View page
US Patent:
7468074, Dec 23, 2008
Filed:
Oct 29, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/975379
Inventors:
David N. Caborn - Louisville KY, US
Gregory Guederian - Naples FL, US
Assignee:
Arthrex, Inc. - Naples FL
International Classification:
A61F 2/08
US Classification:
623 1314
Abstract:
A graft harness for securing a ligament in a bone tunnel takes the form of a shaped plug having a proximal end and a distal end. A radial groove is formed in the distal end of the plug which accepts a looped ligament graft. A suture passageway formed through the plug transverse to the groove accepts a length of suture. The proximal end of the plug features a concave configuration adapted to accept the distal end of an interference screw. A ligament graft is secured in a bone tunnel using the graft harness by seating the looped graft within the groove to form a harness/graft construct, passing a length of suture through the suture passageway, and drawing the harness/graft construct into the tunnel using the length of suture looped through the suture passageway. The graft is secured primarily using an interference screw which engages the concave proximal end of the harness. The harness provides secondary fixation of the graft in the bone tunnel.

Modular System For Replacement Of Radial Head

View page
US Patent:
7641695, Jan 5, 2010
Filed:
Sep 7, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/219744
Inventors:
Gregory Guederian - Naples FL, US
Assignee:
Arthrex, Inc. - Naples FL
International Classification:
A61F 2/38
US Classification:
623 2011, 623 1811
Abstract:
A modular endoprosthetic radial head implant includes an end cap secured to a cannulated body held to bone by a fixation element. The fixation element supports the cannulated body on a resected radial bone end, for example. The fixation element of one embodiment features a threaded stem with a spherical head. The stem fits distally into the cannulated body and extends through a hole formed by the distal end of the cannulated body. The spherical head nests inside the cannulated body. Polyaxial alignment between the cannulated body and the fixation element is locked using a jam nut tightened inside the cannulated body. An end cap fits into place proximally on the cannulated body. The end cap is formed of a joint surface material to provide a bearing surface.

Hybrid Glenoid For Shoulder Arthroplasty

View page
US Patent:
8048161, Nov 1, 2011
Filed:
Nov 5, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/265584
Inventors:
Gregory A. Guederian - Naples FL, US
Anthony A. Romeo - Willowbrook IL, US
Assignee:
Arthex, Inc. - Naples FL
International Classification:
A61F 2/40
US Classification:
623 1913, 623 1911, 623 1711
Abstract:
Glenoid prosthesis with a hybrid design (combining both peg and keel designs), and surgical methods for reconstitution of a shoulder joint. The hybrid design combines both peg and keel components into one device. The hybrid glenoid component of a shoulder prosthesis includes an oval body having a concave lateral articulating surface and an opposing convex medial surface. The medial surface is provided with a plurality of pegs and a single inferior protrusion. The pegs are used to attain both a superior location as well as a central location. The inferior protrusion provides stability in the superior-to-inferior translation of the humeral head, as well as rotational articulation of the same.

Parallel Drill Guide

View page
US Patent:
8308732, Nov 13, 2012
Filed:
Apr 12, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/758387
Inventors:
Peter J. Millett - Vail CO, US
Gregory A. Guederian - Naples FL, US
Thomas Dooney, Jr. - Naples FL, US
Steven L. Vandermeulen - Ft. Myers FL, US
Assignee:
Arthrex, Inc. - Naples FL
International Classification:
A61B 17/17
US Classification:
606 96
Abstract:
A parallel drill guide and system which maintains contact on the bone at various angles. The parallel drill guide comprises a fixed sleeve and a parallel, axially slidable, sleeve for guiding the insertion of two parallel wires or pins into bone at any angle while maintaining contact between the bone and the guide. The drill guide is also provided with a locking mechanism that locks the slidable sleeve into position at any lateral distance relative to the fixed sleeve, using a novel off-axis locking device.

Articulating Hook Elevator And Arthroscopic Method For Using Same

View page
US Patent:
20090156903, Jun 18, 2009
Filed:
Dec 5, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/329401
Inventors:
Gregory A. Guederian - Naples FL, US
Scott P. Steinmann - Rochester MN, US
International Classification:
A61B 1/32
US Classification:
600204
Abstract:
An articulating hook elevator for manipulating tissue during arthroscopic procedures. The articulating hook elevator comprises a shaft, a proximal end, and a distal end provided with an articulating paddle. The hook may be actuated by a switch and can articulate into a standard tip for traditional manipulation of tissue, or into a rotated or articulated position. In this manner, effective manipulation and retraction of tissue from the surgical site without tissue collapse may be achieved, allowing a surgeon to better visualize the internal condition of the arthroscopic site and speed up the overall procedure.
