Self-Cleaning Rotor Assembly

View page
US Patent:
46532536, Mar 31, 1987
Filed:
Mar 31, 1986
Appl. No.:
6/846652
Inventors:
Franja F. Voler - New Holland PA
John K. Hale - New Holland PA
Earl E. Koch - Mohnton PA
Assignee:
New Holland Inc. - New Holland PA
International Classification:
A01D 5518
US Classification:
56 136
Abstract:
A mechanism for removing dirt and debris from the interior of a divider member mounted on the end disc of a disc cutterbar used in a disc mower-conditioner is disclosed wherein the dividers are provided with air inlet openings to permit the introduction of air into the interior chamber of the hat-shaped divider members. Each divider member is provided with a plurality of fan blades mounted to the top plate thereof to exhaust air from within the interior chamber and create a flow of air from the air inlet openings through the interior chamber and exiting a discharge opening formed between the divider top plate and a stationary cover mounted thereabove. This flow of air cleans the interior chamber of dirt and debris. An optional filter can be utilized to reduce the amount of dirt and debris permitted to enter the interior chamber through the air inlet openings.

Disc Cutter Rotor Assembly

US Patent:
48380148, Jun 13, 1989
Filed:
Sep 23, 1987
Appl. No.:
7/099971
Inventors:
Earl E. Koch - late of Mohnton PA
Franja F. Voler - New Holland PA
Edmund O. Howell - New Holland PA
Assignee:
Ford New Holland, Inc. - New Holland PA
International Classification:
A01D 3526
US Classification:
56 136
Abstract:
An improved disc cutter rotor assembly for use in a disc cutterbar of the type utilizing a plurality of intermeshed gears to transfer rotational power is disclosed wherein the rotor assembly provides a low profile to facilitate the flow of crop material over the cutterbar, yet permits the individual components of the rotor assembly to be serviced and/or replaced. The hub and shaft are of welded construction and are rotatably mounted within a bearing housing affixed to the transmission casing for mounting a removable bearing assembly. The drive gear for the rotor assembly is splined onto the shaft and retained in place by a fastener and washer assembly to permit the drive gear to be removed from the shaft. A sealed hole in the bottom of the transmission casing permits access to the fastener and washer assembly to permit the drive gear to be removed from the shaft before removing the rotor assembly from the transmission casing.

Swivel Hitch For Connecting An Implement To A Tractor

View page
US Patent:
51523574, Oct 6, 1992
Filed:
May 31, 1991
Appl. No.:
7/708314
Inventors:
Kenneth W. McLean - New Holland PA
Franja F. Voler - New Holland PA
Assignee:
Ford New Holland, Inc. - New Holland PA
International Classification:
A01D 6900
A01B 7106
US Classification:
180 533
Abstract:
A primary drive line for delivering power from a power-take-off (pto) shaft on a tractor to an input shaft on an implement includes a swivel hitch comprised of an upper gearbox and a lower gearbox. The upper gearbox is fastened to a pair of spaced apart, upper vertical plates carried on a tongue extending forwardly from the implement, and the lower gearbox is fastened to a pair of spaced apart, lower vertical plates carried by a yoke assembly that is attached to the tractor. An output shaft on the upper gearbox is coupled to the implement input shaft. The lower gearbox has two shafts, one of which is coupled to an input shaft on the upper gearbox. The other shaft on the lower gearbox is connected to the tractor pto shaft. A pivot tube secured to the upper vertical plates is surrounded by a pivot housing fastened to the lower vertical plates to permit pivoting movement of the lower gearbox relative to the upper gearbox about a generally vertical axis when the tractor makes turns during normal operation.

Appl. No.:
7/099970
Inventors:
Earl E. Koch - late of Mohnton PA
Franja F. Voler - New Holland PA
Assignee:
Ford New Holland, Inc. - New Holland PA
International Classification:
A01D 3463
US Classification:
56 136
Abstract:
An improved disc cutterbar construction is disclosed wherein the cutterbar casing is provided with a rearwardly extending flange and a plurality of forwardly projecting mounting tabs. A wear plate is connected underneath the casing by fasteners extending through the flange and other fasteners interconnecting brackets on the wear plate and mounting tabs on the casing. Semi-circular guards are detachably connected by fasteners engaged with mounting arms forwardly extending from the wear plate. Skid shoes are provided with a hook portion that engages into a slotted opening in the guard members and are fastened to the casing flange by the fasteners connecting the wear plate to the casing.

US Patent:
46930612, Sep 15, 1987
Filed:
Mar 31, 1986
Appl. No.:
6/846651
Inventors:
Earl E. Koch - Mohnton PA
Franja F. Voler - New Holland PA
Assignee:
New Holland Inc. - New Holland PA
International Classification:
A01D 5518
US Classification:
56 136
Abstract:
An improved idler gear mounting apparatus for use in a disc cutterbar to rotatably mount the idler gear transferring rotational power between drive gears operatively associated with disc cutter assemblies disclosed wherein a spacer member engages both the upper surface and the lower surface of the transmission casing to provide radial support thereof and also engages the inner race of a bearing assembly rotatably mounting the idler gear. A bolt having a head portion received within a recessed portion of the spacer member extends through the spacer member and is threadably engaged with a securing member which in turn engages the lower surface member of the transmission casing. A lip portion of the spacer member engaged with the upper surface of the transmission casing permits the mounting apparatus to be secured between the upper and lower surfaces of the transmission casing and rotatably mount the idler gear. O-rings associated with spacer member and the securing member seal the mounting apparatus to prevent the leakage of fluid from the transmission casing.
