System And Method For Providing Video Conferencing Services To A Television-Service Subscriber

View page
US Patent:
7573498, Aug 11, 2009
Filed:
Dec 1, 2004
Appl. No.:
11/001472
Inventors:
Shingara Singh Dhanoa - Overland Park KS, US
Ezzat Suleiman Atieh - Olathe KS, US
Assignee:
Sprint Communications Company L.P. - Overland Park KS
International Classification:
H04N 7/14
US Classification:
348 1404, 348 1408
Abstract:
A system and methods are described for providing video conferencing services to a television-service subscriber via a television host device and a television-service-provider network. A request to participate in a video-communication session is sent from a television host device to a network entity. Based on the request, the network entity establishes a video-communication session between the television host device and at least one video-communication endpoint.

Network Device Testing System

View page
US Patent:
7760656, Jul 20, 2010
Filed:
Jun 6, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/134669
Inventors:
Tianson Yuan - Plano TX, US
Brent A. Scott - Leeton MO, US
Ezzat S. Atieh - Olathe KS, US
Wei Chen - Overland Park KS, US
Assignee:
Sprint Communications Company L.P. - Overland Park KS
International Classification:
G01R 31/08
US Classification:
370242, 370248, 370249, 370401, 726 11, 726 23, 702122, 714 32
Abstract:
A network testing system for a device under test (DUT) uses a test tool to generate test packets provided to the DUT as source traffic and to receive the test packets back from the DUT as destination traffic. Before the test packets are returned from the DUT to the test tool, an external router receives the test packets from the DUT and forwards them back to the DUT. The DUT has a first pair of DUT interfaces coupled to the test tool and a second pair of DUT interfaces coupled to the external router. The DUT has a first virtual router with a first routing table configured to direct test packets received on one of the interfaces in the first pair of DUT interfaces to the external router. The DUT has a second virtual router with a second routing table configured to direct test packets received on one of the interfaces in the second pair of DUT interfaces to the test tool. Thus, test packets output by the test tool traverse the DUT more than once before returning to the test tool.

Method And System For Interworking Half Duplex And Full Duplex Conferencing

View page
US Patent:
7768999, Aug 3, 2010
Filed:
Sep 1, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/218242
Inventors:
Shingara Dhanoa - Overland Park KS, US
Ezzat S. Atieh - Olathe KS, US
Monika Panpaliya - Leawood KS, US
Assignee:
Sprint Spectrum L.P. - Overland Park KS
International Classification:
H04L 12/66
US Classification:
370352, 370267, 370282, 370493, 37920201, 709204
Abstract:
A method and system is disclosed for interworking between half-duplex and full-duplex conferencing. A half-duplex (HD) conference will be conducted through one conference server and will involve floor-control, a full-duplex (FD) conference will be conducted through another conference server, and the conference servers will exchange bearer traffic so as to cooperatively provide an HD/FD conference. When the HD conference server detects that any of the participating HD client stations holds the floor in the HD conference, the HD conference server directs the FD conference server to put the participating FD client stations in a listen-only mode with respect to the HD conference. On the other hand, when the HD conference server detects that none of the HD client stations holds the floor, the HD conference server directs the FD conference server to lift the listen-only restriction.

Addressing Security In Asymmetrical Networks

View page
US Patent:
8069469, Nov 29, 2011
Filed:
Jul 25, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/179921
Inventors:
Ezzat Atieh - Olathe KS, US
Mohammed Mohiuddin - Overland Park KS, US
Reza Jafari - Olathe KS, US
Assignee:
Sprint Communications Company L.P. - Overland Park KS
International Classification:
H04L 9/32
US Classification:
726 2, 726 3
Abstract:
Embodiments of the present invention provide systems, methods and apparatuses for addressing security by keeping track of handshake messages received by security elements along paths in an asymmetrical network. An Intelligent Security System receives handshake messages, thereby determining whether a session is allowed, and communicating information about the handshake messages, associations, and allowed sessions, to the security elements.

Addressing Security In Asymmetrical Networks

View page
US Patent:
8347353, Jan 1, 2013
Filed:
Nov 29, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/305997
Inventors:
Ezzat Atieh - Olathe KS, US
Mohammed Mohiuddin - Overland Park KS, US
Reza Jafari - Olathe KS, US
Assignee:
Sprint Communications Company L.P. - Overland Park
International Classification:
H04L 9/32
US Classification:
726 2, 726 3
Abstract:
Addressing security in an asymmetrical network. At a centralized database, a handshake message is received from a security element that received the message on a first path. A second handshake message is received from a second security element that received the second message on a second path, where the centralized database tracks handshake messages and associations between the messages and communication sessions. A determination is made that the first message is associated with a session. Another determination is made that the second message is associated with the same session. An association between the second message and the first message is stored in the centralized database, based on the associations of the first message and the second message with the same communication session. A determination that the communication session is allowed is stored in the centralized database, based on the association of the second handshake message to the first handshake message.

Video Conferencing System With Dynamic Call Management And Set-Up

View page
US Patent:
7460493, Dec 2, 2008
Filed:
Jul 22, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/896402
Inventors:
Shingara S. Dhanoa - Overland Park KS, US
Ezzat S. Atieh - Olathe KS, US
Assignee:
Sprint Communications Company L.P. - Overland Park KS
International Classification:
H04L 12/16
US Classification:
370260, 348 1408, 37920201, 709204
Abstract:
Telephony conferences are established within a packet network. Utilization of a plurality of conference bridge resources within the packet network is monitored. A database of user profiles is maintained associating authorized users of the conference bridge resources with respective PIN codes. A host user links to a call manager to initiate a request for a conference session. The host user is authenticated according to a respective one of the user profiles to determine an authenticated PIN code for identifying the conference session. A portion of the conference bridge resources are allocated in response to the authentication. The authenticated PIN code is forwarded to the conference bridge resources. The host user links to the allocated conference bridge resources. A guest user links to the call manager to initiate a request to participate in the conference session.
