Sep 19, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/857909
Inventors:
Randolph B. Lipscher - Austin TX, US
Eric Wohl - Austin TX, US
Michael D. Dahlin - Austin TX, US
Assignee:
Catalis, Inc. - Austin TX
International Classification:
G06Q 50/00
US Classification:
705 2, 705 3
Abstract:
A method of formulating a medical order for a patient includes transmitting a medical order interface to a healthcare provider interface device. The medical order interface includes a plurality of selectable medical order items. The method further includes, in response to receiving a selection of a medical order item of the plurality of selectable medical order items, transmitting an authorization request interface to the healthcare provider interface device. The authorization request interface includes a set of selectable findings controls. Each selectable findings control of the set of selectable findings controls is associated with a set of medical findings associated with the patient. The authorization request interface includes a send control. In addition, the method includes, in response to receiving a selection of a select findings control and receiving selection of the send control, sending an electronic authorization request. The electronic authorization request includes the set of medical finding associated with the select findings control and order data associated with the medical order item.

Systems And Methods For Documenting Medical Findings Of A Physical Examination

View page
US Patent:
20040078215, Apr 22, 2004
Filed:
Nov 23, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/992036
Inventors:
Michael Dahlin - Austin TX, US
Randolph Lipscher - Austin TX, US
Eric Wohl - Austin TX, US
Assignee:
ReCare, Inc. - Austin TX
International Classification:
G06F017/60
G06F007/00
G06F017/00
G09G005/00
US Classification:
705/002000, 707/104100, 345/746000
Abstract:
An electronic system and a method for efficiently documenting medical findings that consist of both a problem and a location on or in the body. This invention further provides a method for documenting multiple problems in related body locations. This invention further provides a method for efficiently issuing orders associated with medical findings that consist of both a problem and a location on or in the body. The invention is able to enhance efficiency during the Physical exam making the invention an essential component of the physician's practice workflow. This, in turn, will enable the invention to serve as a single point of integration for a vast array of useful electronic tools and information. For example, in a computer-implemented system and method for documenting one or more medical findings having a body location and a type of medical finding, the method includes the steps of: displaying a body location selection view for a user, the user selecting a body location, the system then displaying a means of selecting possible types of medical findings, the system also then displaying a means of selecting to display a more detailed body location selection view, wherein the user selecting a type of medical finding causes the system to store a finding comprising the user-selected location and problem, and wherein the user selecting to display a more detailed body location selection view causes the system to display a more detailed body location selection view. The method may further include the finding types that may be selected are of a group of finding types and further comprising a means for selecting a different group of finding types to be displayed. Moreover, the groups of finding types each may correspond to a set of finding types related to one system of the body. The system may include a means for selecting one or more appropriate procedures that may be performed at the selected body location and a means for recording an annotation regarding the selected location of the body. The means for recording an annotation may be selected from a group including selecting a pre-generated annotation, recording a text annotation, recording a graphical annotation, recording a sound annotation, and recording a photographic annotation.

Systems And Methods For Integrating Disease Management Into A Physician Workflow

View page
US Patent:
20040122701, Jun 24, 2004
Filed:
Nov 23, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/992035
Inventors:
Michael Dahlin - Austin TX, US
Randolph Lipscher - Austin TX, US
Charles Bergman - Lutherville-Timonium MD, US
Eric Wohl - Austin TX, US
International Classification:
G06F017/60
A61B005/00
US Classification:
705/002000, 600/300000
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to an electronic system and a method for integrating disease management information into a physician workflow. A method for presenting treatment algorithms to at least one user, the method may comprise: receiving or storing treatment algorithms from at least two disease management advisors; selecting a subset of treatment algorithms; and presenting the subset of treatment algorithms to the at least one user. For specifying medical diagnosis and treatment algorithms that may be integrated into a healthcare workflow of the electronic system, the electronic system may include: (a) a coordination server having one or more rules for selecting at least one treatment algorithm based on medical and demographic information about a patient; and (b) an interface for providing a plurality of questions related to one or more medical findings, the questions may be asked of the patient or entered about the patient and potential orders that may be executed for the patient. The electronic system may further enable access to a plurality of entities; each entity may specify one or more treatment algorithms to be included in one or more healthcare workflows. For example, one or more third party disease management advisors (DMAs) may be integrated into a physician workflow. An electronic medical record (EMR) device such as a wireless tablet which is generally used by healthcare professionals (HCPs) is leveraged to integrate a plurality of disease management algorithms with the traditional EMR workflow of an electronic medical record (EMR) system typically utilized for dispensing a variety of healthcare services. In particular, such integration provides a disease management EMR system for effective communication between a plurality of disease management advisors, a plurality of healthcare professionals, and a plurality of patients.
