Work Light Having Jobsite Security Features

View page
US Patent:
20210310642, Oct 7, 2021
Filed:
Apr 6, 2020
Appl. No.:
16/840683
Inventors:
- Stuttgart, DE
Eric R. Laliberte - Naperville IL, US
International Classification:
F21V 21/14
F21V 33/00
F21V 21/26
Abstract:
A portable work light is disclosed that provides jobsite lighting and also operate as a security camera for the jobsite. The portable work light comprises a light fixture having one or more rotational degrees of freedom that can be actuated to adjust an orientation of the light fixture. The portable work light advantageously further comprises a camera which provides security features for the jobsite during non-working hours and enables automatic adjustment of the light fixture to maintain optimal illumination of the jobsite during working hours. In this way, security at the jobsite, particularly during non-working hours, can be greatly improved using jobsite equipment that is also useful for other purposes.

Human Tracking To Produce Improved Jobsite Lighting

US Patent:
20210310643, Oct 7, 2021
Filed:
Feb 1, 2021
Appl. No.:
17/163846
Inventors:
- Stuttgart, DE
Eric R. Laliberte - Naperville IL, US
International Classification:
F21V 21/14
F21V 23/04
F21V 21/26
Abstract:
A portable work light is disclosed having a light fixture with one or more rotational degrees of freedom that are automatically actuated such that a light thereof can maintain optimal lighting for a target person in a jobsite environment. Particularly, the portable work light is advantageously configured to track a target person's location within the jobsite environment and automatically reorient the light fixture as needed to maintain optimal illumination of the jobsite for the target person. In this way, the non-value-added work of repositioning or reorienting the work light is eliminated, thus enhancing the productivity of the target person at the jobsite.

Saw Height Adjustment Mechanism Having A Flexible Shaft

View page
US Patent:
20190308257, Oct 10, 2019
Filed:
Apr 9, 2018
Appl. No.:
15/948725
Inventors:
- Broadview IL, US
- Stuttgart, DE
Eric R Laliberte - Naperville IL, US
International Classification:
B23D 45/06
F16C 1/06
Abstract:
A table saw includes a table assembly having a top surface, a cutting assembly, and an adjustment assembly. The cutting assembly is arranged below the table assembly and is movable relative to the top surface. The adjustment assembly is operably connected to the cutting assembly and includes an input member, an output member, and a flexible shaft. The output member is operably connected to the cutting assembly and is configured such that rotation of the output member causes the cutting assembly to move relative to the table top surface. The flexible shaft has a nonlinear central axis, a first end operably connected to the input member, and a second end operably connected to the output member. The flexible shaft is configured such that rotation of the input member causes rotation of the first and second ends, and rotation of the second end causes rotation of the output member.

Electrical Configuration For Object Detection System In A Saw

US Patent:
20190255729, Aug 22, 2019
Filed:
Apr 29, 2019
Appl. No.:
16/397192
Inventors:
- Stuttgart, DE
Eric Laliberte - Naperville IL, US
Timothy Szweda - Chicago IL, US
Brian Taylor - Elmhurst IL, US
Dieter Volpert - Chicago IL, US
Gary L. Voong - Chicago IL, US
International Classification:
B27G 19/02
F16P 3/14
B23D 59/00
B23D 45/06
B23D 47/08
Abstract:
An object detection system in a saw includes an electrically conductive plate positioned at a predetermined distance from the implement, a detection circuit comprising a transformer, and a single cable connecting first terminal and second terminals of the transformer. The single cable includes a first conductor electrically connected to the first terminal of the winding and to the electrically conductive plate, a second conductor electrically connected to the implement, and an electrical insulator positioned between the first conductor and the second conductor.

System And Method For Sensing Cable Fault Detection In A Saw

View page
US Patent:
20160263675, Sep 15, 2016
Filed:
Mar 4, 2016
Appl. No.:
15/060709
Inventors:
- Broadview IL, US
- Stuttgart, DE
Indumathi Chandrashekar - Bangalore, IN
Ankur Mishra - Kanpur, IN
Seenivasan Ayyamperumal - Bangalore, IN
Eric Laliberte - Naperville IL, US
International Classification:
B23D 59/00
G01R 29/26
B23D 47/08
B27G 19/02
B23D 45/06
Abstract:
A method for detection of a fault in a sensing cable within a saw detects potential failures in a sensing cable that is part of an object detection system in the saw. The method includes generating a predetermined excitation signal transmitted through a first conductor and a second conductor in the sensing cable, detecting a return signal from the first conductor and the second conductor in the sensing cable in response to the predetermined excitation signal, identifying a signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the return signal, and generating an output indicating a fault in the sensing cable in response to the SNR of the return signal being below a predetermined value.
