Abstract:
A system, method and computer-readable medium are disclosed for advertising and completing a transaction using a credit card or a debit card. The method includes receiving situation information at a device, based on the situation information, transmitting an advertisement to the device, associating an advertisement with an identification card such as a debit card, credit card, student ID card, biometric data, or club card, and receiving an indication of a purchase associated with the advertisement and completed using the card. The disclosure enables a user to receive an advertisement on a device such as a mobile device and then make a purchase decision based on that advertisement in a normal fashion or transparent to the user and sales clerk, without the use of coupons, special codes or any other additional and annoying requirements for making the purchase. The user only needs to use an appropriate identification card. The merchant for the clerk at a point of sale handles the transaction in a standard fashion.

Abstract:
A system, method and non-transitory computer-readable storage medium are disclosed for processing coupons. A system configured to practice the method transmits an advertisement to a mobile device of a user after the user registers to receive advertisements, wherein the advertisement is associated with an identification card of the user and a coupon, activates the coupon based on an acceptance via a user interaction with the mobile device, other than a telephone call, to yield an activated coupon, receives an indication at a point of sale device of a purchase using the identification card, wherein the mobile device is different from the point of sale device, and applies a discount to the purchase according to the activated coupon. Thus, a user can redeem the coupon by simply purchasing using the identification card without presenting a separate physical coupon. The coupon can be applied in substantially real time or after the transaction.

Abstract:
A method and apparatus are provided for producing a catalog of items that are to be offered for sale. A computer system is employed wherein a catalog item number is assigned to the items that are to be listed in the catalog. Each unique item contains a unique catalog item number. A cataloging software program that is executed by the computer determines whether an inputted item has previously been assigned a catalog item number by comparing the inputted item against a plurality of items in a master item list. If a catalog item number has not previously been assigned to the inputted item, a new catalog item number is generated and assigned to the inputted item. However, if the cataloging system determines that the inputted item already exists in the master item list, the catalog item number assigned to the item in the master list is also assigned to the inputted items. Accordingly, all like items have the same catalog item number, whereas different items have different catalog item numbers.

Disclosed herein are systems, methods, and non-transitory computer-readable storage media for broadcasting audio tweets. A system broadcasting audio tweets receives tweets via telephone devices, wherein each listener hears a telephone call of a broadcast on the telephone devices. Each received tweet is associated with one or more tags specifying tweet content, which is used to analyze received tweets. The system presents a display of analyzed tweets for selection to a host. The host selects one or more tweets and broadcasts the selected tweets as part of the broadcast to the telephone devices. Automatic speech recognition can be used to automatically convert received audio tweets to text to enable tagging and analyzing the tweets.
