Mounting System For Mounting An Alignment Instrument On A Vehicular Wheel That Uses Any Known Lug Bolt Pattern

View page
US Patent:
7117603, Oct 10, 2006
Filed:
Aug 3, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/911251
Inventors:
Dean S. Pellegrino - Thousand Oaks CA, US
International Classification:
G01B 5/255
G01B 21/26
US Classification:
3321318
Abstract:
A mounting system for mounting an alignment instrument onto a vehicular wheel which is to be used to align the wheel of the vehicle. The mounting system includes a mounting plate which has an engagement structure located directly adjacent the peripheral edge of the mounting plate. At least a pair of the lug nuts, and preferably three in number of the lug nuts, of the vehicular wheel are to be removed and replaced with elongated internally threaded sleeves, all the same length, which are substantially longer in length than the lug nuts so that the mounting plate will be mounted in a spaced relationship from the vehicular wheel. The mounting plate includes at least five in number of elongated holes generally radially disposed in a spaced apart arrangement relative to the center of the mounting plate. A fastener assembly is used to fixedly mount the mounting plate onto the elongated internally threaded sleeves. The alignment instrument is then to be clamped onto the mounting plate by engaging with the engagement structure.

US Patent:
7478482, Jan 20, 2009
Filed:
Oct 5, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/973153
Inventors:
Dean Pellegrino - Thousand Oaks CA, US
International Classification:
G01B 5/255
G01B 5/24
US Classification:
3320318, 33203, 33562
Abstract:
A mounting system for mounting an alignment instrument onto a vehicular wheel which is to be used to align the wheel of the vehicle. The mounting system includes a mounting plate which has an engagement structure located directly adjacent the peripheral edge of the mounting plate. At least a pair of lug nuts, and preferably three in number of the lug nuts, of the vehicular wheel are to be removed and replaced with elongated internally threaded sleeves, all the same length, which are substantially longer in length than the lug nuts so that the mounting plate will be mounted in a spaced relationship from the vehicular wheel. The mounting plate includes a series of pre-cut, designated bolt patterns generally radially disposed in a spaced apart arrangement relative to the center of the mounting plate. A fastener assembly is used to fixedly mount the mounting plate onto the elongated internally threaded sleeves. The alignment instrument is then to be clamped onto the mounting plate by engaging with the engagement structure.

Direct Mount Hub Adapter

US Patent:
7578066, Aug 25, 2009
Filed:
Nov 14, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/985377
Inventors:
Dean Pellegrino - Thousand Oaks CA, US
International Classification:
G01B 5/24
G01B 7/30
G01B 11/26
G01B 13/18
US Classification:
3320318, 33203, 24822021, 2482292
Abstract:
An adapter that eliminates that need for a clamp during the alignment of vehicle wheels. The adapter is particularly useful in tires that have lipless wheels, rim-guard tires, stiffer sidewalls and larger diameter wheels, which have caused problems when using traditional clamps. The adapter is cylindrical in shape and has a first end and a second end. The first end is attached to the alignment instrument. The second end is attached to a hole located in the center of a plate that is attached to the vehicle hub assembly through two or more lug bolts. The plate is positioned substantially parallel to the vehicle wheel and the alignment head is then attached directly to the hub through the clampless adapter, providing for improved accuracy in alignment measurements and corrections.

Customizable Tool For Mounting An Alignment Instrument For Specific Bolt Patterns Combined With A Direct Mount Clampless Hub Adapter

US Patent:
7926189, Apr 19, 2011
Filed:
Feb 8, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/658495
Inventors:
Dean Pellegrino - Thousand Oaks CA, US
International Classification:
G01B 5/255
US Classification:
3320318
Abstract:
An all-in-one hand tool for the alignment of a vehicle wheel with predetermined lug bolt/nut patterns for specific manufacturers. The tool has pre-formed adapters that protrude from one side of the hand-held plate that attach to specific lug nut/bolt patterns on vehicle wheels. The other side of the hand-held plate allows for an alignment instrument to slide thereon. The instrument is highly accurate as it is pre-welded and does not need to be adjusted to the wheel. The plate is not clamped on to the wheel allowing for preservation of wheel covers and greater accuracy.

Collapsible Traffic Barricade

US Patent:
20090196689, Aug 6, 2009
Filed:
Jan 31, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/012442
Inventors:
Dean Pellegrino - Thousand Oaks CA, US
International Classification:
E01F 13/00
US Classification:
404 72
Abstract:
An easily collapsible guardrail to separate opposing streams of traffic that includes specialized buffer blocks having chambers with two hollow interiors and with the interiors having a particular shape that promotes the movement of energy in a collapsing motion that allows the colliding vehicles to remain closer to the point of impact, minimizing any bouncing back into the moving stream of traffic. The specialized blocks are mounted to a post at two positions using staggered positioning of bolts, thereby removing the prior art single bolt that has been the cause of a lot of property damage and personal injury upon collision. The unique, staggered positioning of the bolts allows for directional movement of the vehicle away from the flow of traffic. Optionally, a specialized post can also be used that also minimizes the effects of a crash. The post is made of a rubber material that acts as a shock absorber and/or insulator. Additionally, the post can include slight relief areas that are incorporated therein that allow more flexible movement upon impact to absorb the harmful impact of a collision and help direct the forces, and thereby the vehicle, downward.
