This invention relates to a method of supplying desired quantities of heat, generated from selected inexpensive fuel burns in the firebox of a boiler, to an electric heat pump's refrigerant, while operating in its heating cycle. This supply of heat can be of sufficient quantities to satisfy the total ouput of the heat pump, minimizing its use of electricity, thereby creating a substantial savings, as the cost of the heat generated by the inexpensive fuel used by the boiler is much less than the cost of electricity.

Abstract:
The low temperature heat recovery system is used in combination with apparatus for drying a moving web of paper or the like and comprises a steam circuit, a gas circuit and a refrigerant circuit. The steam circuit recovers condensed steam from the rotary cylinders of the paper dryer, reheats the steam and injects the steam back into the rotary cylinders or back into the steam main. The gas circuit removes the wet air from the dryer housing, extracts the moisture and the latent heat from the air, reheats the air and injects the air back into the housing. The refrigerant circuit functions as a heat pump to heat the steam and air prior to injecting the steam and air into the cylinders and housing, and cools the air to condense and extract the moisture from the air.

Abstract:
The present invention discloses a new method for obtaining a crystallized phosphoric acid of relatively high purity starting with conventional phosphoric acid. The new method is based on crystallization of orthophosphoric acid hemihydrate from the phosphoric acid. Massive nucleation which would lead to the formation of unprocessable masses is avoided in the new method by providing unusually large amounts of fine relatively pure seed crystals of orthophosphoric acid hemihydrate and operating the crystallization process under conditions which favor crystal growth on the seed crystals and disfavor the occurrence of secondary nucleation. To prevent the crystallizing magma from reaching a viscosity which would render further processing difficult the present invention provides for recycling raffinate in an amount sufficient to maintain the solids content of the crystallizing magma below about 40%.

Method and apparatus for recovery of waste heat from thermomechanical pulping systems and the like in which waste heat in the form of steam exhausted from the mechanical pulper and latency chest portions of the thermomechanical pulping system are respectively passed through first and second evaporators which increase the enthalpy of the working liquid. The working fluid outputted from the first evaporator passes through a first compressor to significantly increase both pressure and temperature and further increase enthalpy. The working fluid at the outlet of the first compressor then undergoes desuperheating within an intercooling tank. The liquid phase of the working fluid is passed from said tank to the inputs of both evaporators, while the vapor phase merges with the working fluid outputted from the second evaporator and enters a second compressor to undergo further increases in pressure and temperature. The working fluid emerges from the second compressor and is passed through a condenser where it transfers its heat energy to water passing through the condenser, which water is converted to steam at a pressure well in excess of atmospheric. The working liquid, in giving up its heat energy, is converted into the liquid phase and is passed to the intercooling tank which serves as a means to balance differences in the mass flow rate, temperature, pressure and enthalpy of the working fluids respectively passing through the first and second compressors, thereby allowing the first and second compressors to operate at different temperature and pressure levels although they are driven by a common prime mover.

A portable positive air filtration device including a respiration component and a harness component. The harness component being connected with the respiration component so as to secure the respiration component against the face of a user and covering the mouth and nostril of the user.
