Sector Body For Rotary Disc Dewatering Apparatus

View page
US Patent:
42160944, Aug 5, 1980
Filed:
Mar 20, 1979
Appl. No.:
6/022236
Inventors:
Dallas H. Solum - Salt Lake City UT
Assignee:
Envirotech Corporation - Menlo Park CA
International Classification:
B01D 3900
US Classification:
210331
Abstract:
A sector body for use in a rotary disc dewatering apparatus is provided with a radially extending groove on each of its opposing faces. Any slackness in a filter medium fabric covering the sector body is gathered into the radial grooves. A caulking compound is applied over the filter medium in the radial grooves to maintain tautness of the filter medium.

Rotary Distributor/Auxiliary Backup Drive Mechanism For Trickling Filter Systems

View page
US Patent:
51678330, Dec 1, 1992
Filed:
Aug 28, 1991
Appl. No.:
7/750916
Inventors:
Dallas H. Solum - Salt Lake City UT
Bruce C. Deming - Murray UT
Assignee:
Baker Hughes Incorporated - Houston TX
International Classification:
C02F 304
B01D 2134
US Classification:
210739
Abstract:
The present invention deals with wastewater treatment systems, and more particularly with trickling filter systems using distribution tubes or arms rotating about a central point above filter beds to distribute wastewater thereto. The present invention comprises an auxiliary or backup motor drive mechanism for a rotary wastewater distributor and includes a prime mover, preferably an electric motor, a transmission system, preferably a sprocket and chain drive, and a sensing system to turn the auxiliary drive system on when flow rates are too low to maintain the normal hydraulically driven rotation of the distributor. The auxiliary drive system further comprises protective mechanisms to turn the prime mover off whenever speeds afforded by the wastewater flow are adequate for proper distributor operation or whenever the auxiliary drive system is overloaded due to a failure of rotation of the distributor.

Steam Injection Assembly For Disc Filter

View page
US Patent:
41348354, Jan 16, 1979
Filed:
Mar 31, 1977
Appl. No.:
5/783098
Inventors:
Dallas Solum - Salt Lake City UT
Steven S. Davis - Bountiful UT
Assignee:
Envirotech Corporation - Menlo Park CA
International Classification:
B01D 3518
US Classification:
210178
Abstract:
Apparatus is disclosed for steam drying a cake of filtered solids formed on a filter element of a rotary disc vacuum filter where the disc filter element is mounted for rotation in a container, the lower portion of which includes a slurry tank and the upper portion of which includes a steam hood. The steam hood encloses a portion of the filter element in a steam chamber and includes tubular members which are connected to support the steam hood walls and which serve as an element of an introduction means for conveying steam into the chamber.
