Method Of Controlling Access For Software Development Via A Virtual Common Desktop With Plural Viewers

View page
US Patent:
7127745, Oct 24, 2006
Filed:
Mar 24, 2000
Appl. No.:
09/536084
Inventors:
Conrad M. Herse - Naperville IL, US
Joseph P. Rekiere - Tinton Falls NJ, US
Henry L. Voss - Elmhurst IL, US
Assignee:
Lucent Technologies Inc. - Murray Hill NJ
International Classification:
G06F 9/00
H04L 9/00
US Classification:
726 30, 726 29, 726 28, 726 15
Abstract:
In a virtual network computing (VNC) system wherein multiple users, or viewers, at different locations share a common desktop computer for the purpose of sharing control of software applications, the VNCSESSION owner exercises dynamic Internet protocol (IP)-based control over access of the viewers to the server associated with the shared desktop. The VNCSESSION owner is defined as the user who initiates the server and the first viewer to connect to the desktop. The session owner is given full access to the desktop, i. e. , active access permitting the viewer to exercise control over the application. For the remaining connected viewers, only VNCVIEWERS having their IP address present in a VNC security file containing authorized IP addresses can initiate activity on the desktop, or exercise control over the application. All other connected viewers may only review desktop activity initiated by other viewers, but cannot initiate such activity themselves, i. e. , cannot exercise control over the application.

Large Packet Switch Router

View page
US Patent:
6310878, Oct 30, 2001
Filed:
Jul 30, 1998
Appl. No.:
9/124874
Inventors:
Bohdan Lew Bodnar - Park Ridge IL
James Patrick Dunn - Northfield Township, LaSalle County IL
Conrad Martin Herse - Naperville IL
Enn Tammaru - Naperville IL
Assignee:
Lucent Technologies Inc. - Murray Hill NJ
International Classification:
H04L 1256
US Classification:
370396
Abstract:
A large router for routing datagrams. The large router comprises a plurality of router slices, each of which receives switches and transmits datagrams. Each router slice has a routing memory for routing the packets. If a packet is received whose destination address is not known to the receiving packet slice, the packet slice broadcasts a request for routing information for that datagram to the other packet slices of the large router and routes the packet in accordance with the received responses. Groups of slices are interconnected by a time slot interchange (TSI) unit, and groups of TSIs are interconnected by a time multiplexed switch. The router can consist of more than one switch; the switches being interconnected by high speed data links. Advantageously, the router, though composed of small slices, acts as if it were a single large high capacity entity.

Switching Internet Traffic Through Digital Switches Having A Time Slot Interchange Network

US Patent:
63241765, Nov 27, 2001
Filed:
Jun 5, 1998
Appl. No.:
9/092666
Inventors:
Bohdan Lew Bodnar - Park Ridge IL
James Patrick Dunn - Northfield Township, LaSalle County IL
Conrad Martin Herse - Naperville IL
Enn Tammaru - Naperville IL
Assignee:
Lucent Technologies Inc. - Murray Hill NJ
International Classification:
H04Q 1104
US Classification:
370376
Abstract:
Apparatus and a method for interfacing between the Internet and the Telephone Network. A time slot interchange is enhanced by the addition of a supplementary memory for storing data for accumulating Internet packets. When a packet has been accumulated, the appropriate header is inserted into the packet under the control of a routing processor, and the packet can then be sent as a group of adjacent PCM samples over a connection to the Internet. In other embodiments, information is sent to the Internet over a direct data pipe for transmitting ATM cells or Ethernet packets. A Vocoder signal processor can be inserted between the TSI memory, and the supplementary memory to convert PCM voice samples into vocoded voice samples for transmission over the Internet. A modem signal processor can be interposed between the TSI memory and the supplementary memory to convert between analog data (representing for example, shift key analog signals) and binary data for transmission within packets over the Internet. Advantageously, existing TSI units can be used to interface with both the telephone plant and the Internet.

Arrangement For Controlling Peripheral Component Interconnect (Pci) Units From A Plurality Of Control Processors

US Patent:
61191930, Sep 12, 2000
Filed:
Oct 31, 1997
Appl. No.:
8/961998
Inventors:
Joseph Jonas Bosita Gomez - Naperville IL
Conrad Martin Herse - Naperville IL
Assignee:
Lucent Technologies Inc. - Murray Hill NJ
International Classification:
G06F 1338
US Classification:
710129
Abstract:
Apparatus for permitting any of a plurality of driver circuits to control a select lead. In the preferred embodiment, the plurality of drivers are in separate peripheral component interconnect (PCI) host bridges. The drivers when active are in one of two low impedance states. A resistor whose impedance is substantially less than the high impedance of a driver when in the inactive state is connected to ground and pulls the voltage on the select lead toward ground when none of the drivers connected to the select lead are active. Advantageously, a plurality of drivers can control a single select lead, and only a short time is required as a guard interval between the time that two different drivers control the select lead.
