Auxiliary Sump Water Evacuation System

View page
US Patent:
20130115106, May 9, 2013
Filed:
Nov 7, 2012
Appl. No.:
13/671519
Inventors:
Harry Lewis Sernaker - Washington DC, US
CARLE DANIEL KLUPT - PIKESVILLE MD, US
International Classification:
F04B 17/00
US Classification:
417 36
Abstract:
A sump water evacuation system that operates automatically without reliance on electricity or floats and without any need for oversight or manual intervention, using domestic water supply as the sole motive force to evacuate sump water either into a washbasin or to the exterior of the building; the system is easily installed for use with Radon remediated sump pits. A pneumatic stagnation pressure automatically signals a rising water level in a sump pit and this signal is communicated to a housing wherein the low-pressure signal is mechanically amplified to activate a tilt valve mechanism, thereby converting the pneumatic signal to a hydraulic force which in turn opens a check valve, allowing a high-pressure domestic water supply to flow through to a commercially available Venturi siphon device, causing the sump water to be suctioned out and expelled into either a washbasin or to the exterior of a building.

Limited Use Combined Mailer And Video Cassette And Method Of Forming Same

View page
US Patent:
51996626, Apr 6, 1993
Filed:
Jul 30, 1992
Appl. No.:
7/921382
Inventors:
Carle D. Klupt - Baltimore MD
International Classification:
G11B 23087
US Classification:
242199
Abstract:
A disposable video cassette for rotatably mounting a pair of reels for a recording tape in juxtaposition to allow transfer of the tape from one reel to the other as they are rotated in unison when the cassette is operating in a video cassette recorder (VCR) has a housing formed from a position of a singly flat paperboard blank having plural cutouts and fold lines for mounting the reels and accommodating rotation therein, for loading the cassette directly into the VCR. A pair of the cutouts is spaced apart in one side of the housing to expose the respective rotational driving mechanisms of the pair of reels in the housing, for mating with the driving mechanism of the VCR when the cassette is loaded therein. Another position of the blank constitutes an appendage to the housing conforming to the shape of the housing when formed. The appendage has fold lines to enclose the housing therein, to provide an integral mailer for the cassette, and is attached to the housing along an easy-tear fold line to permit ready removal of the mailer when the cassette is to be used in a VCR.

Limited Use Video Cassette

View page
US Patent:
51996634, Apr 6, 1993
Filed:
Oct 22, 1991
Appl. No.:
7/782774
Inventors:
Carle D. Klupt - Baltimore MD
International Classification:
G11B 23087
US Classification:
242199
Abstract:
A cassette housing for a recording medium and the transport mechanism for the recording medium is composed of a thin one-piece blank of self-supporting foldable material such as paperboard with indentation lines for folding it into a structure with a pair of generally parallel, spaced apart, planar side panels and an end panel between the side panels and extending normal thereto, and having tabs foldable along others of the indentation lines to form three more end panels extending normal to the side panels to enclose the transport mechanism within the structure and maintain the side panels parallel to each other with relative rigidity. The blank has cutouts to form openings in one of the end panels for passage of the recording medium therethrough while mounted on its transport mechanism. The blank also has slits therein associated with others of the indentation lines for folding portions of the blank to form further tabs for retaining the transport mechanism against substantial lateral movement within the structure. In a preferred embodiment, the recording medium is a magnetic tape and the transport mechanism is a pair of reels on which the tape is mounted for winding and unwinding as the reels rotate in synchronism.
