Rail Lubrication System

View page
US Patent:
6578669, Jun 17, 2003
Filed:
Apr 27, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/844223
Inventors:
Philip J. Kast - Sun Prairie WI
Carl A. Gedeon - Middleburg Heights OH
James H. Wollbrinck - Lakewood OH
Assignee:
Lubriquip, Inc. - Cleveland OH
International Classification:
B61K 300
US Classification:
184 32
Abstract:
A lubrication system mounted on a railroad locomotive for applying a lubricant to a rail. The system is comprised of a manifold that defines a generally endless, closed lubricant path. A pump is provided to continuously convey a lubricant along the lubricant path. A reservoir for holding the lubricant defines a portion of the lubricant path. A dispensing nozzle is mounted to the locomotive above each rail for directing the lubricant onto each rail. A metering device is associated with each dispensing nozzle. Each metering device is connected to the manifold and an associated nozzle for diverting a metered amount of the lubricant from the lubricant path to the associated nozzle.

Fluid Flow Totalizer

View page
US Patent:
44146345, Nov 8, 1983
Filed:
Jul 17, 1981
Appl. No.:
6/284526
Inventors:
Timothy R. Louis - Berea OH
Carl A. Gedeon - Middleburg Heights OH
Maw H. Lee - Broadview Heights OH
Eugene V. Erjavec - Willowick OH
Assignee:
The Scott & Fetzer Company - Cleveland OH
International Classification:
G06F 1532
G01F 100
US Classification:
364510
Abstract:
A data totalizer for use with a fluid flow chart recorder is disclosed. The chart recorder may be for a gas well to record the flow of gas into a collection pipe and such chart recorder has a movable chart, usually a circular chart, with a first marker pen to record on the chart a static pressure within the pipe collection system and a second marker pen to record on the chart a fluid flow signal in accordance with a differential pressure across an orifice in the gas well pipe, and with first and second fluid pressure motors in the chart recorder to move the first and second marker pens. The data totalizer includes first and second linear variable displacement transformers, with linkage connected directly in the chart recorder to move in accordance with movements of the pens and connected to move the linearly displaceable elements in the two transformers. An electronic multiplier is provided to multiply together the electrical outputs of the first and second transformers to obtain a product. An electronic circuit is provided to calculate the square root of such product to obtain an electrical signal proportional to the rate of fluid flow.

Air/Oil Lubrication System And Method For Monitoring And Controlling Air/Oil Lubrication Systems

View page
US Patent:
61456268, Nov 14, 2000
Filed:
Jun 4, 1999
Appl. No.:
9/326774
Inventors:
Raymond J. Niemczura - Mansfield OH
Carl A. Gedeon - Middleburg Hts OH
James R. Mismas - Concord Township OH
Jamy E. Bulan - Lakewood OH
Assignee:
Lubriquip, Inc. - Cleveland OH
International Classification:
F16N 730
F16N 734
US Classification:
184 551
Abstract:
A system for the delivery and control of an air/oil mixture used to lubricate large bearings in heavy duty applications such as steel mills is provided. The system includes a mixing module for mixing air and oil and delivering the air/oil mixture through a plurality of connecting lines to a plurality of bearing housings. Each of the connecting lines or the outlet leading to the connecting line is, in turn, connected to its own individual solenoid. Each solenoid is connected to a common pressure transducer which is connected to a controller. The controller sequentially opens the solenoids one at a time thereby establishing communication between one of the connecting lines and the common transducer at a time. The transducer receives pressure signals fr6m each connecting line converts the pressure signals to analog signals before transmitting the analog signals to the controller. The controller then compares the signal received from the transducer with predetermined acceptable high low pressure values to ensure that the line is either not broken or not clogged.
