US Patent:
6399060, Jun 4, 2002
Filed:
Oct 25, 2000
Appl. No.:
09/696819
Inventors:
Bryan Hiromoto - Pukalani HI
Assignee:
ABR, LLC - Honolulu HI
International Classification:
A61K 3500
US Classification:
424115, 424 935, 424 937, 42419515, 42419516, 424405, 435171, 4352541, 4352551, 435822, 435911
Abstract:
A pesticide composition that includes a metabolite from a fungus selected from homeocarpic basidiomycetes and homeocarpic ascomycetes is described. In one embodiment, the fungus from which the metabolite is derived is one grown under conditions effective to substantially suppress fruiting of the fungus. More particular the pesticide compositions are provided comprising a fungal metabolite derived from a fungus selected from the group Ganoderma spp. , Lactiporus spp. , Lentinus spp. , Morchella spp. , and Pleurotus spp. The pesticide composition may be produced by culturing the fungus on a medium containing vegetable oil and a surfactant. Alternatively a filtrate from a culture of the fungus is added to the medium containing vegetable oil and a surfactant, and mixed until pesticidal activity develops.

US Classification:
514 54, 435171, 5361231, 4352541
Abstract:
The invention provides biologically active compositions comprising oligosaccharides, and which are produced by growing a fungal culture, and are at least partially purified for use. The compositions of the invention have antibacterial, antifungal and nematicidal activity, and are thus useful to reduce the impact of such pathogens on growing plants, to reduce the occurrence of such pathogens on surfaces and in substances, and to treat infections caused by such pathogens in animals and humans. The invention also provides methods for producing such compositions from certain fungal cultures.

US Patent:
51232030, Jun 23, 1992
Filed:
Apr 12, 1991
Appl. No.:
7/686006
Inventors:
Bryan Hiromoto - Pukalani HI
Assignee:
Maui Shiitake Trading Company, Inc. - Pukalani HI
International Classification:
A01G 104
US Classification:
47 11
Abstract:
An improved substrate for mushrooms that is essentially cellulose-free comprising a major portion of grain and minor portions of nutritional supplements. The grain is partially sterilized by boiling in order to kill bacteria, cooled in order to induce germination of the heat resistant spores, and steam sterilized before the germinated spores have matured sufficiently to create new spores. The substate can be used to grow fungi, including mushrooms, especially shiitake.
