Dresser, Inc. - Addison TX
International Classification:
F16K 5/06
US Classification:
251298, 25131507, 25131516
Abstract:
A ball valve has a valve body defining an inner seat and having a fluid inlet and fluid outlet and a control ball element rotatably mounted in the inner seat. The control ball element has a partially spherical outer surface, a flow passage having a leading edge, a first inner control surface abutting the leading edge, and a second inner control surface abutting the leading edge at an angle oblique to the first inner control surface.

Low Torque Ball Valve Seat

US Patent:
6988708, Jan 24, 2006
Filed:
Oct 6, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/679962
Inventors:
Brian J. Caprera - Warwick RI, US
Assignee:
Dresser, Inc. - Addison TX
International Classification:
F16K 1/00
US Classification:
251171, 251192, 25131501, 251317
Abstract:
A ball has a valve body defining an inner cavity and a fluid inlet and fluid outlet, a control ball element rotatably mounted in the inner cavity, and having a segment defining a ball face, and a flexible valve seat positioned in the valve body. The seat comprises a base portion, a cantilevered portion with a sealing face disposed toward the ball face, and a connecting portion between the base portion and the cantilevered portion that is lesser in width than are the base portion and the cantilevered portion.

Fluid Control Valve Device

View page
US Patent:
7363941, Apr 29, 2008
Filed:
Dec 16, 2004
Appl. No.:
11/014124
Inventors:
Brian J. Caprera - Warwick RI, US
Assignee:
Dresser, Inc. - Addison TX
International Classification:
F16K 1/44
US Classification:
13761411, 1376253, 251122, 251368
Abstract:
Certain embodiments of a fluid control valve include one or more ceramic components that operate substantially free of tensile stress concentrations along the control surfaces. In some embodiments, a fluid control valve includes a ceramic plug having a set of longitudinal grooves milled in the cylindrical surface of the plug to define control surfaces. The plug is disposed in an internal longitudinal cavity of the valve body such that the fluid flows over the plug's control surfaces in a direction substantially parallel to the control surfaces. The ceramic plug and other ceramic components may be manufactured using relatively simple machining techniques to reduce the overall production costs.

Seal Cartridge Control Valve

View page
US Patent:
7726339, Jun 1, 2010
Filed:
Nov 17, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/601067
Inventors:
Brian J. Caprera - Warwick RI, US
Assignee:
Dresser, Inc. - Addison TX
International Classification:
F16K 37/00
F16J 15/18
US Classification:
13762533, 277531
Abstract:
A flexible seal ring includes a first sealing face and a rear face is disposed opposite the front sealing face, the rear face is axially offset relative to the front sealing face. An upper face disposed between the front face and the rear face, the upper face extending from the rear face towards the front face such that an interior angle between the upper face and the rear face is greater than 110 degrees. Another flexible seal ring includes a first front sealing face, a rear face, at least one downwardly disposed upper face disposed between the front face and the rear face, at least one downwardly disposed lower face, and a second front sealing face disposed between the downwardly disposed lower face and the first front sealing face. A cartridge seal includes a flexible seal ring and an upper retaining ring.

Bi-Directional Valve With Cavity Pressure Relief

View page
US Patent:
8424567, Apr 23, 2013
Filed:
Dec 18, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/641388
Inventors:
Brian Caprera - Warwick RI, US
Assignee:
Cameron International Corporation - Houston TX
International Classification:
E03B 1/00
US Classification:
13759918, 13760121, 25131516
Abstract:
A valve operable to control flow between two adjacent pipe sections and having a system for relieving pressure from an enclosed cavity within the valve. The valve includes a first pressure port, a second pressure port, and a seal. When the valve is closed, the first pressure port is in fluid communication with one pipe section and the second pressure port in fluid communication with the enclosed cavity. The seal isolates the second pressure port from the first pressure port when fluid pressure within the enclosed cavity is less than a pre-selected valve and is displaceable to enable fluid communication between the second pressure port and the first pressure port when fluid pressure in the enclosed cavity is equal to or greater than the pre-selected value.

Control Valve Trim

View page
US Patent:
8585011, Nov 19, 2013
Filed:
Nov 21, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/743562
Inventors:
Brian J. Caprera - Warwick RI, US
Assignee:
Cameron International Corporation - Houston TX
International Classification:
F16K 47/00
F16K 47/08
F16L 55/02
US Classification:
251122, 1376253, 251127
Abstract:
Provided is a control valve trim, including a plug having a plurality of sections arranged in series along a longitudinal axis, wherein each of the plurality of sections has a diameter that is greater than the diameter of the preceding section, and a plurality of slots in the surface of each of the plurality of sections, and a liner, wherein the plug is disposed internal to the liner.

Fluid Control Valve Device

US Patent:
20070040136, Feb 22, 2007
Filed:
Aug 22, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/209022
Inventors:
Brian Caprera - Warwick RI, US
International Classification:
F16K 47/00
US Classification:
251122000
Abstract:
In some embodiments, a valve may include a plug that is pivotable relative to a portion of a stem so that the plug is capable of aligning itself to the seat liner. In such circumstances, the valve may be manufactured to provide close guidance of the plug proximal to the control surfaces and so as to reduce the sway of the plug relative to the seat liner.

Process For The Manufacture Of Friable Silicon Nitride Bodies

View page
US Patent:
50614169, Oct 29, 1991
Filed:
Oct 30, 1989
Appl. No.:
7/428710
Inventors:
Craig A. Willkens - Sterling MA
Normand D. Corbin - Northboro MA
Brian J. Caprera - Southbridge MA
Assignee:
Norton Company - Worcester MA
International Classification:
C04B 4185
US Classification:
264 28
Abstract:
A friable silicon nitride body is prepared by infiltrating a non-friable silicon nitride body with a fluid which expands upon freezing, rapidly freezing the fluid, and thawing the frozen fluid. Silicon nitride flakes and chunks obtained with only light pressure on the friable body may then be final milled to a desired particle size more rapidly and with less energy input than with conventionally processed silicon nitride. The silicon nitride body may have a higher density than has previously been used to prepare silicon nitride powders, thereby preventing the generation of potentially hazardous whiskers in the final powder product.
